America was meant to be the eagle soaring in the sky toward change, not be the oyster stuck in the sand while the tides of progress swirl around its shell.

It's an ebb and flow, can't always be on top. We're meant to be where we are.

There are many who don't want us to move at all though.

And their is a growing number that would prefer to take a different approach than the rest of the world, just like our ancestors.

I never denied that. Change isn't evil.

We need to be more than that and become a spacefaring species. Nothing should take priority to making this goal achievable

It was. And when it got that change it perched there. If you want more change, don't make me fly with you.

So you're openly an oyster, who refuses to confuse to be the eagle?

It's all about your perspective. I could say I am the eagle perched in the cliffs content not to move and you are the oyster trying to dig your self deeper to change. Progress for progress sake isn't progress.

You're right that progress for progress' sake isn't great, nor is conservatism just for the sake of it, except that's worse.

Sometimes I fear that we are the soaring oyster, with a hard landing ahead unless we get our spending under control.

I like that quote. We're definitely the oyster haha, in many issues.

Nothing is meant. Nothing is predestined. USA either claws it's way out of this MESS or it can continue to sell its soul to the international money makers who have cleverly enslaved US.

I was meaning more from a general sense, not just today and the morrow

Although I was going to use this for a speech today

I like the analogy. I'd rather we were the eagle but it feels more like an ocean right now. At least to me.

Both the eagle and oyster are making smart decisions to catch their food.

Yes, but your ideas of progress are different than mine.

Like with the other poll, the more idea that are out there, in theory at least, the more likely something works.

I don't know why this confuses libs so much, but change isn't always good!

Is it always? No. Is that any excuse to make no change? Also no. Society advances. It always has and will.
