Theological Thursday: Do you believe that faith is a product of works or works are a product of faith?
Your works would not have the right motives if it were not for faith first
Faith is belief without evidence. Why is this something to strive for? I would much rather try to find the missing evidence. Faith has never made much sense to me.
I have faith that God by his grace will save me. You cannot 'prove' this empirically/scientifically etc.
I agree with you. Still, that is not a compelling argument for me to have faith.
Chicken / Egg
Do you mean salvation?
I generally dislike third option responses, but...
God works with us as we are. One person may be inspired to faith through doing good works, another person may have a natural inclination to strong faith and express that in works.
It also depends on how you define "works."
No way.. We actually agreed on something.. WOW, it's gonna be a terrific day.
Regardless, the faithful are expected to act on their faith, and so the two are inseparable in our salvation.
Faith without works is dead.
