If you were to take a job as a pizza delivery guy/girl would you want to be armed?

.... armed (jumped the gun on the enter button)

10/18/13 2:34 pm

Ha! This would not be a successful job for me. Leave pizza at door and run

I answered yes because while I was a jimmy johns delivery guy, there were a couple instances where I would have felt much safer armed.

I guess it would depend on the area, but I delivered pizza for years as a teen and never once had trouble. I went into some sketchy parts of town too. I think most people realize the pizza guy isn't carrying enough money to make a robbery worth it.

With everything their is risks. I'd have to see statistics on how often they get robbed/killed/raped/etc. Only reason I might carry a weapon, without knowing those stats, would be because I'm a young female.

I was just in Nebraska and my friend told me a great story of how an attractive female used to deliver pizzas, until one delivery resulted in her attempted rape. She screamed for help and luckily a cop was right around the block. Otherwise...

Absolutely. I'm armed at all times anyway. I'd definitely want to be if I'm going to strangers' houses and hotel rooms.

Yes, otherwise I wouldn't be able to carry the pizza

If someone wants to kill me over pizza, I will just give it to them with no fighting. Pizza isn't worth dying over.

Problem is sometimes they don't just want the pizza, they also take your money, car, & life.

I'd rather be two-armed. It would make it easier to carry the pizzas (and to drive!).

Had an ex that used to be a pizza boy, told some crazy stories. I don't think it would be for me mostly cause I get lost often. But I would be packing heat.

10/17/13 12:23 am

Yes and I would be

10/16/13 11:30 pm

The job is not that important where you would need to carry

10/17/13 12:23 am

Hahaha actually they get robbed frequently. Same with fast food restaurants

Not with a gun... it's a public service to those around me.

A pizza delivery guy in a big city invented the bullet proof vest and demonstrated its effectiveness while wearing it and getting shot in the chest. Head and limbs unfortunately aren't protected. That's why you need a juggernaut suit. CODref

Thx for your support. I really appreciate it. I know lots of facts about many categories and enjoy sharing my knowledge.

Small town so no. Hardly any crime. If someone marked graffiti on town hall or the police department that would be headliner news.

Yes, after dark I carry my mag lite just in case, apparently someone got stabbed and robbed in providence recently.

Armed, without a doubt. I carry a pistol in my car now, and I don't deliver pizzas.

I would have to be armed so I could kill myself rather than deliver soggy greasy crusted pizza to good citizens. .

Or you could work for a decent pizza joint that delivers wafer-thin crispy crusted goodness.

10/16/13 10:26 pm

I guess it would depend on the area. I delivered pizza for years in college with no issues, though I am generally VERY pro gun.

I've been to Buffalo a few times. The City Hall area is a little sketchy early on a Sunday morning, but I felt safe pretty much everywhere else I went in the city.

The Spot coffee shop on Delaware & W Chippewa was my go-to place for lunch.

No, if I'm gonna be robbed, then they can have that damned pizza. I don't plan to kill someone over a pizza..

Good point. What about being tied up and raped by the person you're delivering pizza to? (Some may call that a perk)

Oh, goodness, I don't even know.

A "perk"? Wtf kind of assbag attempt at a joke is that supposed to be??? Jesus Christ, it's like you've never had a single conversation with a rape victim. What the actual fuck, dude.

10/16/13 9:40 pm

Who the hell would call being raped a perk?!?!

I'm going to attempt to be generous and suggest that comment was perhaps a poor attempt to reference some people's sexual fantasies (which yes, for some, does include being forced). I say that because of the ever popular pizza delivery porn theme.

10/17/13 10:11 pm

@bethany: I am a rape victim. Thank you for your compassion.

Secondly, the rape fantasy has been studied for the past several decades:

Happy, you're welcome and I am very sorry to hear that. Rape fantasies, as I'm sure you know, are by definition not about ACTUAL rape.

10/17/13 10:24 pm

Happy, I'm incredibly sorry about what happened to you, and hope whoever did it got the punishment they deserved. I assumed you were meaning rape, not rape fantasy

Happy Hong Kong
10/17/13 10:26 pm

They didn't get punished. The only other person who I have ever told is my wife. I'm over it though, it happened a lifetime ago and I don't hold grudges.

10/17/13 10:43 pm

Happy, again I AM sorry. I did misinterpret what you were meaning with your comment though.
