An artist creates a nude statue for the park, facial features are modeled from his neighbor, and the body was what he imagined. The neighbor demands the statue be torn down and the artist reprimanded. City denies her request. Pick a side.
My question is: is it very recognizable? If not then no, if it is than she is right; her permission was needed first
The neighbor should have been asked.
Haha it would be so funny if it ever were to happen
Oh, it so would,
Why are you obsessed with nude statues?
This was the last one, I swear
Bob, that does not even look like me.
Are you bashing my talent?
The body is imagined. You can't copyright imagination.
This question reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the mannequin that looks like Elaine. :)
I love these questions!
Bob, are you hoping someone creates a nude statue of you? Lol
RambleOn just did!
That would be AWESOME!
Also, I can't really see harm done unless the statue was (will be) lewd or have some unnamed device in an unnamable orifice. And if the statue was donated, there is no profiting that the subject was denied.
Ender, I don't know why but I find your user name hilarious.
You should not be able to use someone's likeness without their consent. If it's recognizable as her, he needs consent.
Could you make the argument that it isn't a 100% point-for-point facial likeness?
Permission should have been obtained to use the neighbors likeness.
Haha so many nude statues! :)
They're like a treasure trove of ethical conundrums :)
The neighbour's image was used without permission.
That's usually a case if it was used for profit.
The statue is a form of free speech an so is protected by the first amendment
You do not get to hurt others with your freedom of speech.
using his/her likeness without his/her permission is a no no.
Wherever you live must have a hell of a lot of nude statues by now...
Not yet, my neighbor won't stay still long enough for me to chisel
Joking, don't call anyone
Dude! Wax casting! Much faster. Also, you could gas them and take a mold to use of their face in the night.
