Do you think less of people that are intolerant of people of certain races, religions, sexual orientations, etc.?

Here's an example of arrogance. My hick brother in law from bfe Wyoming is asked by his son what his favorite color is. He responds white. It's the best color. Or when he walked out of Chris rock stand up. Waste of a $500 front row ticket.

Not so much. That would make me an insensitive prick just like them.

Yes.

I'm somewhat intolerant of intolerance.

Yeah. I'm perfectly fine being intolerant towards people who are intolerant. Only when it comes to things that all basic humans should be treated equally for, like the examples in your question.

Everyone has something sucky about them...
As long as that sucky thing doesn't take over the rest of who they are, I just count those it as one of their flaws. We all have flaws.

I'm not sure what you mean.

There's a difference. You can disagree with someone while still respecting them and treating them how they deserve.

Very much so. Shows their arrogance and lack of education.

I do as a knee jerk reaction and then talk myself out of it. Someone who is so close minded is trapped by the comfort of their own concepts deemed "safe." This boils down to fear in my opinion, and I don't think less of fearful people.

Acceptance is more desirable than tolerance. Tolerance implies condescension.

Nope. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Yeah, and I'm entitled to my negative opinion of people who choose to be bigots.

Does that not also make you a "bigot"? (I hesitate to even use the term, it hardly means anything anymore, the way people throw it around)

Being bigoted against bigots isn't bigotry in my book.

So your actions are good or bad only as defined by what others do?

Disliking or thinking less of someone for their intolerance towards a group of people isn't what I'd consider bigotry. For example, if you hate the KKK, I wouldn't consider you to be a bigot, because the KKK is a group of bigoted idiots.

True. Would you then agree that bigotry is only action, not mental?

I'd say that if you get to the point where you vocalize your intolerance or otherwise communicate it to someone else, it becomes bigotry.

Yes. Unless they're an equal opportunist about it. Example: I think believers (you know what I'm talking about) are less than intelligent. But I think that about all of them equally, regardless I which imaginary being they believe in.

You actually believe people of faith are sub-intelligent?

If you're just a general misanthrope (as opposed to someone who specifically hates blacks, Asians, Jews, or whites--etc.) I won't hold it against you.

Generally speaking, yes. There's even research (which I would say is unbiased, though others might argue) to back that up.

(Do I feel a hatestorm coming on?)

But that doesn't really answer my question.

Sorry, posted that before I saw your second comment. No hatestorm. Sorry if you've had bad experiences with hate-storming Christians. But I do encourage you to talk to some well-respected Christians before making that judgment.

Violence, I kinda feel the same way, and would love to see some of that research, if you wouldn't mind helping me know what to search for?

As far as sexual orientation, I don't think less of people who have "old-fashioned" views of sex, but I do think less of people who hate the sin AND the sinner.
