Is carrying a pistol on a daily basis unchristian?
Of course not. What you do with it has the potential to be very immoral, but anything more is like saying it's wrong not to carry snacks with you bc you might be tempted to steal when you get hungry.
No, but churches that have gun ranges don't seem to understand Jesus's teaching of non-violence & turning the other cheek.
Pretty sure they aren't shooting at humans.
I don't see this as true and I am not a fan of guns. I don't find gun owners to be bad people or unchristian - mostly they like to hunt (which I think is mean, but whatever) and they feel the need the protect their family.
Those aren't the ones I'm talking about, it's the anti gov gun nut churches that scare me. Indoctrinating children from a very young age with some scary ideas.
I by no means think that gun owners are anti Christian, but they have no place in church.
The guns, not the owners
It is unchristian, turn the other cheek and all. One of many reasons I'm no longer Christian.
Not that it makes a difference to me, really.
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
In fairness, a sword can be used to defend ones self with less lethality than a gun.
A good point on the verse though. I will have to read it in context tomorrow.
Good work! My roommate the confronted me about my pistol carrying habits last night. We went at it for about an hour and said several times: "Well I'm going to die a Christian". He kept bringing up the "he that lives by the sword" verse.
