You and 9 random strangers of your age are brought together in a situation that calls for a leader to be chosen over the course of a week. Are you likely to emerge as that leader?
I won't be a leader but at the same time I'm sure as hell not following anyone. I'll do my own thing
Yep...it happened tonight.
Depends on what we are doing. I'm not going to take the lead if we are building a rocket.
I don't care what you say. I don't care what you do. I will be leader. And you will like that.
We got a bad "A" over here!
I don't like leading. I would probably end up as some kind of peace-keeper cuz I'm good at seeing many sides
Oh, no. I wouldn't want to be stuck with a bunch of nineteen-year-olds unless they were more like me and less like the stereotypical crazy teen. But, maybe leading them would be a good choice.
Eagle Scout, Registered Nurse, and concealed weapons holder. I'd say yes to that question
Until people know me, they tend not to slot me as a leader - short female and what not - but given time, I end up in leadership roles.
That situation occurred when I was on a jury. I was chosen to be the foreman almost by acclamation.
No, but I would probably be the one doing the most talking.
I tend to be more of an adviser to the leader. I like making suggestions, but when it comes time to decide, I'd rather that be up to someone else
Me too. :)
No, I'm not assertive enough, I can't make decisions, and people never listen to me. I wouldn't want the responsibility anyway.
Yes, the other 8 would be in good hands!!
MY AGE?! Sure... and first thing I would do is have everybody go look for some youngsters to bring back, so we could all tell THEM what to do. My age group is full of leaders... we'd need to find some strapping young followers to do the work.
I'd like to me like second in command. If probably look to an older person. Preferably a man to be my go to guy. Not a woman.
I tend to be the quiet one but I could see myself emerging as a leader in serious situations.
I'm more of a second-in-command type of guy.
I'm going to do my best to be completely forgotten by the group, hoping they'll distract each other enough that I can get some stuff done.
I'd probably become an advisor, like Grima Wormtongue
I don't see myself as a leader, but I get pushed into that role frequently.
Although I have led and have leadership skills, I wouldn't say that I'd likely be chosen...but I'd emerge as the leader at some point.
Maybe after a couple days and seeing how other take on the situation. I can be a pretty good leader, im normally just afraid to be in front of people
Although I am very qualified to lead groups in various situations, I don't have the natural "look" or charisma of a leader. I am a scrawny little Asian kid with no assertive voice. Unlikely I would be chosen to lead by strangers.
It wholly depends on the situation but yes, most likely.
Yes, dammit. I can't help myself
America -- where everyone is a leader and no one is following you
I don't want to be a leader or a follower. I usually find solutions to problems on my own and then handle things efficiently by myself. Committees complicate matters and slow things down.
Friendly reminder for everyone saying we've got too many leaders and not enough followers... We're all SOH users and pretty awesome by default. There are enough non SOHers to follow each of us.
Possible, but not if one is a physically agressive bully.
44 of you have a nasty surprise waiting during the apocalypse.
Ladies and Gentlemen, let me remind you of Lord of the Flies. Often it is not the most qualified that emerges as leader when the leader is picked so early without information.
Haha! So many leaders. Results should be 10%
Haha, no way. I'm much too meek and mild.
I think if more than half of Americans were true leaders, our nation would be in a better place.
I think some of us are lying.
Oh c'mon... out of 10 measly people you don't think you could be chosen as a leader? Jeez, I could be picked leader out of 11, or maybe even 12, for sure! :-?
I didn't say I would or wouldn't be the leader. I'm saying more than half of those that aswered the poll said they would be the leader. That is not consistant with the amount a leaders are actually acting the part. I don't believe more than 50 percent of the u.s. population is leading anyone.
It was just humor/sarcasm, QT. Do what I tell you to and relax.
(BTW, that was sarcasm again.)
Yes, if the nine strangers include a seven year old wittle baby who owns a smartphone, someone named Scotty who relates everything to obama, someone named pizza who relates everything to his uncle, a cowboy, and 5 randomly selected others.
that Scotty kid would be in the corner jacking off to pictures of the president
Depends on the situation. If you need an athlete then I'm your guy but if you need somebody very intelligent then I'd probably step down.
A leader doesn't have to know how to everything themselves. They need to be a source of order and fairness in organizing the group.
Depends on the situation
It depends on if I am knowledgable about a particular subject. If it is a school project, yes I am usually the leader. I have received leadership positions at my school and county; however, if the situation is something I have little knowledge on..
..I will probably take the back seat, and help in anyway I can.
Yes. I have very strong skills as a leader.
I'm more of a second or third level guy. I don't take the lead unless I earn the respect first
The racial stats are the most interesting. At the time of this comment... 71% middle eastern & 16% black. What are your thoughts?
Depends on the task.
I would be in-contention to be leader because if I strongly believe in something I will speak my mind. But, if there is someone smarter I do bow to that.
So many people like to be leader, I always preferred the position of "influential second in command". Without the stresses of leadership, you can think clearly and run a puppet show from behind the scenes.
Maybe not, but you can bet I'll have the chosen leader's ear.
As we see in our own government, leaders are not the most qualified and not at all that intelligent. But successful leaders have the ability to surround themselves with intelligent & quality advisors. That's me, I'm best in a support role.
I'm not going to campaign to be leader but more often than preferred I find myself in that role. Find chaos unacceptable & will take charge rather than watch group flail about. If no one else willing, I'll do it just to save my own sanity.
should I be the leader? yes. am I likely to become the leader? no.
