In 2050, will humans be able to access the internet through thought alone or still need a computing interface?

I think it will be possible, but not widespread.

Hope not, that would open the door for unwanted ads/spam in your head and nothing you do makes them go away because they're in your head.

The Internet is a 2-way street: I'm highly dubious about jacking my mind directly into it.

Ever read Neuromancer?

Hadn't heard of it, but it sounds pretty interesting.

Same here, but people have sacrificed freedom in the past in order to make life easier.

Seminal work of fiction describing the Internet before there actually was an Internet.
It heavily influenced the Matrix.

William Gibson is the author.

I'm thinking someday perhaps but not as soon as we think. Often society miscalculates when things will happen like with flying cars. They are here but not everyone has one.

Nor are they in the imagined manner thought of in the 1950s.

Do you mean through thought alone with no additional hardware?

No, I think some form of hardware will be required; probably nothing like what we currently think of as hardware, however.
