Is Wealth Inequality in America, an issue that concerns you? Concerns can be related to the economic impact, national stability, freedom, etc.
Sure, there is inequality...of opportunity to some extent ...but significantly of effort and sacrifice. Entitlement is rampant, hard work and sacrifice aren't "cool"...and many have no shame about getting over on someone or the welfare system.
Take the entitled, lazy, and scammers out of the mix and you have my attention. Problem is, that group is growing like a unchecked weed...in fact, we're feeding that faction...and IMO, the effect is potentially ruinous to this country's foundation.
I am more concerned about class warfare.
Perhaps, but the question remains, especially in the past 20 years...
Which side has been waging the war?
Why does the jealous crowd buy Lotto tickets? Is it for wealth or hoping to win to give it away? Me thinks they want that Beamer!
I wish them luck in their Mc mansions. People came here to make something of themselves, some more then others. I'm proud we have achievers while others are jealous.
Wealth inequality is concerning for all the reasons mentioned in the question/comments. Even more concerning, however, is the unwillingness of Americans to acknowledge the problem and the continued of pursuit of policies that further the issue.
The Russian Czars didn't think Income inequality was a problem in 1916.
It is approaching pre- Great Depression levels, I would call that a concern.
Very serious problem. You can't have sustainable, healthy economic growth when income inequality is this bad.
Not really. Of all the issues people raise, that one concerns me the least. I might change my position if I ever come to believe that opportunity does not exist for anyone to be in the 1%, but that is not the case today.
Income mobility is also terrible, did you see the video?
No, I haven't watched that one yet. I guess I've seen the opposite of terrible in my life, but all of my friends and family seem to have been willing to move anywhere in the country without hesitation for a career. I think that makes a difference.
Is this what you are talking about DOc?
My concern is that wealth inequality was created by the wealthy using the state to advance their interests.
You mean like intense lobbying to cut taxes just for the wealthy? ;)
Yes, and "bailing out" imaginary legal entities(cooperations) who have no financial responsibility.
Wow. All you folks in this string concerned about income inequality - I'm encouraged thought I was alone in the Blog. Lol. Good stuff ^^^^**
You can't cut taxes for those who don't pay any! But they do get refunds.
I really, truly do not understand how people could possibly not think it is a problem. At the very least it is a clear indication of things in our economy, and ultimately society as a whole.
IMO, if you don't think it's a problem, you've never thought about the issue. Or you are part of the 1%.
This is a fairly thought provoking video that I believe users both left and right will enjoy. It makes no detailed public policy suggestions, but it does point out the difference between perception and reality.
I knew it was going to be that video! Lol
It's a good video
I know Reid my mom showed me the video
How could it not concern someone? That baffles me.
Some people just have a, "what is, is." Attitude about it... :/
Tell me what you think of the video I posted e!
I promise to later. Watching a game right now.
Watching charger game?
