There is no consistent relationship between good reporting and opinion.
The opposite. Good reporting is absolutely without bias or opinion. Opinionated "reporting" is called an editorial. Or "Fox".
Or "MSNBC", or "CNN". It's sad how many examples exist out there.
Good writing follows the seven canons of journalism.
Good reporting is when you report, not create.
Good analysis is opinionated. Good reporting is when you can't tell which side the reporter is on.
Maybe "discussion" would've been a better word choice. I like watching the opinion shows on MSNBC and Fox and appreciate when they give their opinion in those settings.
