Which style of country would you rather live in? Both respect privacy, have fair elections, and aren't corrupt: A) medium size gov, moderate regulation, efficient with programs B) minimally sized gov, emphasis on free trade, high on civil rights.

A) B)

Probably up there certainly. I just figured smaller gov = more civil rights. Might as well give the libertarian country the civil rights edge.

I am very surprised at the results

That's what you get for ASSuming.

Well that was rude. And rude people go on ignore.

Why, because you made assumptions and don't like to hear someone else's opinion? Way to keep an open mind. Keep making yourself look like an ass.

Lol what'd you expect USA?

I was conversing with you because I truly was quite surprised. And expect a leftie to name call...I always expect that. ;)

I'm not a "lefty". Far from it. This is an open forum for everyone to share constructive ideas and have civil discussions with many different people. When folks make assumptions about a group of people, it can cause strife and resentment.

You can keep making assumptions and trashing the other side, because that's what this app is turning into. However I'd like to see it return to its glory days when people were nice and didn't act like asshats, making assumptions. TheLateGreatSOH

Also, just so you're clear, the republicans used to care about civil rights.

Maybe you should re-read the part in your own comment about being civil and constructive.

I thought that was civil and constructive. I could've gone full okie...

Calling someone an ass is never civil or constructive, and comparing your actions to another's doesn't make them any better.

Actually, smaller government = fewer civil rights. Most of the protected rights we have today are the result of active and strong legislative and judicial branches. Left to our own devices we would collectively piss on civil rights.

Bean, very nice. As you know I can be pretty blunt and opinionated. But calling people names because they have differing opinions doesn't help ones cause.

I had to go with A. I think that government can still be reasonably small, and there's nothing in it that would preclude it also being high on civil rights. Some regulation and social programs is far better on the whole than sink or swim.

B is really attractive, I think it'd be dope to live there... But I'm going A. The conditions in the poll eliminate most of my issues with government and I'd like to see it done right. Maybe duel-citizenship? ;)

Assuming the mention of civil rights for option B doesn't render option A tyrannical in light of the preamble to the question ;) I would say option A. Efficiency and fair regulation are exactly what we need.

Haha, A is fair with civil rights for the hypothetical's sake. B just you know, gets off on civil rights lmao
