Free smart-phones for life (limit: one every 6 months), or free cell service & unlimited data plan for your phone for life?
I spent my entire childhood with the same exact phones every year for 18 years. We survived. They were made well.
I break my phone all too often.... (the screen) at least then I'd be able to replace this one by now
Wow, do the math peeps.
First you have to see the graffiti before judging, Most Graffiti is just a tag left by gang members but Graffiti that is an actual artwork could be art and not vandalism.
Wrong question. This is about free cell phones vs free service.
Hardware: I could use sell the extra phones for an off hand business.
Hardware; got unlimited everything for $60/m.
A new phone is >$600. I currently only pay $85 a month for unlimited everything. A new phone every 6 months would be more valuable to me.
I can pay for the service. I hate paying the big chunk every 2 years.
I'm so broke, I get my sisters phones when they buy new ones...
I can use the cell/data plan once I get my iWatch, or whatever the next gadget is after the smartphone. :)
To the 91% that picked service you can get close to that if republic wireless is in your area. I think they are newer but you only pay 19/month for unlimited everything. You get an android smart phone as well. You pay 100 for the phone.
They are even getting the MotoX in the fall. My friend switched and the service is great. He convinced our coworkers to switch as well when their contracts are done.
After 5 months, you paid for the phone. I am still doing better on unlimited plan.
I'm talking about cheap service to be helpful. Not the math. In today's world that's the closest to free for unlimited everything.
No data coverage for my area. Any cheap service that uses AT&T's network?
I spend $93 a month on 450 minutes and my old grandfathered in unlimited data plan. In less than 6 month, I can save enough to purchase a smart phone out right.
Hardware is a minimal cost compared to service.
Pretty sure we all spend more money on service.
4 phones and 2 iPads in my house. I wouldn't mine saving that 240 bucks a month!
Unlimited, unlimited, unlimited.
I'd choose service since I only buy a new phone every few years. I could use the extra $1200 a year back from the service!
Larger value in the service.
Soon enough we will be beyond smart phones so won't want to have to stick with those forever once the super duper ally uper smart phone is invented
Why not? The government loves to give out freebies
What some companies are charging for rates, texting, data, etc is ridiculous, irresponsible and greedy. A fair pricing must be in place if cell service is to remain a viable resource.
If you sold your free $600 phone every six months you would be making money people
I already have the unlimited data (I'm grandfathered into this plan) and would not change it for anything. I can buy new phones myself.
I'd rather have the hardware. Service on T Mobile is very cheap and I'd like to have a new device to play around with every 6 months!
Service is more expensive, and I don't need a new phone every 6 months.
For sure... And I would not want the added responsibility of learning new tech and interface. Plus most new devices are buggy!
Service cost is much more expensive than a new phone. I pay $1,100 a year for service.
I'll take the free service and upgrade every 2 years like I currently do. Money in the bank!
plan will turn out to be more expensive in the end. unless..... you get a really expensive on demand phone every 6 months and sell it every time
Stop teasing us with all these "free" polls that will never come true! =P
If you write the best ever Haiku you get all the free letters you want for life!
I don't think the 9% thought this out very well XD
Yeah, people did. Current smartphone technology can rip through an entire data plan's worth of data in hours.
Its like having a Ferrari you can only drive 1 day per month.
Werp, it includes unlimited data. I think his point remains valid.
I'd take the cell service, but not just because the charge per year is greater. Nobody needs a new cell phone every six months; that's a waste of resources.
Phones are cheap. Service is the opposite of cheap, and then multiplied by some crazy number. Not to mention, I don't need a new phone every six months, but I do "need" service every day.
Will pay for itself in no time. Buying a phone every six months would still cost less especially if it's a family plan.
Anyone with a brain know the service costs more
The service for a year costs more than the phone. Plus, I can go for two years if necessary and save up for the latest and greatest phone.
with free phones for life you can get unlimited everything for 40 prepaid. You can sell your free 1000 dollar phone every 6 months and buy a cheap Nexus too.
The ridiculous cost for a monthly data plan is the reason I don't have a smart phone. Give me that for free and I'll gladly buy my own device!
I buy a phone once a year for about $300 but it costs $300 a month! Definitely the free data and service.
You're paying $300 per month for ONE cell phone?
Well it's a family plan actually with 5 phones. I think my is $80 of it.
I'd rather pay for the phone than the service.
Yo would get more with free service. Ill buy the phones.
The service costs more over time than the phone. I only get/want a new phone every 2 years or so.
I opt out
Can we pay to upgrade our phones if the service and data is paid for us?
I don't need a new cell phone every six month.
I don't like having to re-download apps every time I get a new phone. Plus I lose progress on my games!
Do you not use iCloud? It saves and restores everything, including game progress?
If you have an iPhone and use iCloud, it'll automatically re-download all your apps, including saved game progress. It'll even do all your contacts and put things in the correct folders for you. All you need to do is enter your name and password.
iCloud is superb. The best backup ever. I'd take the free coverage/service any day. But I wouldn't need a new phone every 6 months. Annually would be better.
I use iCloud. But the most recent update I lost progress on a game! It was just one game. But I never load all the apps when I move to a new phone. Only the most used!
The map is gonna look like Verizon rules the world
Do I have to use the same phone for life? If I can buy a newer one, than yes. Free service for life.
$600 ever 6 months or $150 every month?
Give me the free plan
Exactly my thought.
If you're spending $150/month for cell service, you might wanna shop around.
I pay for a family plan- I have no idea how much a single phone plan costs
How many phones do you have on the $150 plan?
We spend about $130 for two iPhones with the smallest data plan. And that includes a discount because of my husband's employer. I've had Verizon and AT&T and they're pretty close in price...
On a share plan with 6 gigs for 5 iPhones and an ipad- 300 after taxes.
