Would you allow your child (5 or younger) to watch The Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, or Game of Thrones?

People that say yes aren't aware of how much the little kids absorb at that age. I'm surprised some said yes

My thinking too. No one is speaking up. :)

I for one don't want my daughter to have nightmares over it.

I agree. Some things maybe even older.

But it would depend on my child.

I don't even let myself watch those.

I wouldn't at such a young age.
How soon I would let them would vary, based upon the child and my decision with their mother.

Sometime i go to r rated movie and the parents bring along their 8 year old. I could never watch the Sopranos or Sex and the City with my mother when she was alive. Even certain episodes of Seinfeld or Oprah. Couldn't change the remote fast enough.

Yes I know. It makes me crazy. The last R rated movie I went to there was a 3 or 4 year old child crying and running around. Can't remember the movie now. When I watched saw 2 in the theater years ago, there was a preschool age kid in there too. :/

Is this one of those "I prefer to let my toddlers make decisions for themselves" situations?
If she wants to watch a show about zombies and drug dealers, who am I to tell her to stop?
I shouldn't inflict my values on my child, right!?

Possibly. I have a lot of friends that basically seem to let their kids call all the shots. I say why do they need parents if they already know it all? Lol.

Yeah, I know a couple those people. My kids aren't allowed to play with their kids.

I said yes, but perhaps it's because I have no children. Maybe that's a good thing too!

People look at me like I have 3 heads when I say we don't do Disney. I don't have anything against them my kids just don't like to be frightened and Disney frightens them.

No kidding! The older movies are ok, but some of the scenes from the Princess and the Frog were really inappropriate for little kids.
And the first Toy Story movie, with the frankensteined toys, really freaked my nephew out!
We watch everything 1st,

Yes some of the kids' movies and shows scare my daughter too. I let her watch all dogs go to heaven that I enjoyed as a kid and she was afraid.

If a 5 or younger sees the Walking Dead, they will have nightmares. Will
Not let them see it.

Ummmm no. The only one I have seen of the three is Dead, but I'm familiar with Bad, and definitely say no.

I agree that they're great shows. But I don't really want my 3 year old to see people getting their heads hacked or blown off, having sex, drug deals, etc.

No. I wouldn't make a big deal out of not letting them watch, but it those don't seem like shows they would or should be interested in anyway.

We just watch things like that after our child is in bed. She doesn't even know they exist, lol.

I said no. Hell no. But it seems to be a common theme to allow toddlers and little kids, according to my Facebook friends, lol. One friend writes that she knows she's a good mom because her 3 year old loves breaking bad. Hmmm...

Thats horrible! I know a mother who just bought grand theft auto for her ten year old.

10/14/13 6:22 am

Holy crap. Rhe, you are NOT weird. I wouldn't let my kids watch any of those shows. If a scene in a movie we assumed was OK becomes to much, we turn it off in my house. My boys watch Disney Junior and Nick Jr pretty much exclusively.

Yeah my daughter only watches kid shows, too. Wild kratts at this moment, haha. We watch other shows when she is in bed. She talks nonstop so it would be impossible any other time even if I was okay with it. ;)

It's not just those shows, what about spongebob or violent video games like call of duty or grand theft auto. We have to be on the watch on what kids watch and do.

I agree with you. I hate sponge bob actually.
