When my Daughters were still at home, we said good night every night. When they were younger, a kiss was included. Now, my Wife and I say good night, sleep well and give each other a big hug and a kiss every night.
Always hugs and kisses... Even when I visit my dad now. When in high school, one friend thought we were weird. She didn't remember ever hugging her parents or them saying "I love you". After she realized we were appropriately affectionate, she
... Started saying gnight, and love you to my parents. She never understood how much she needed that. Now as a mom, she always tucks her son in, and kisses him gnight and says I love you to him. It made a huge difference in her life.
We're the same way you & her are now & my family WAS the same way hers was growing up. I don't remember my parents ever hugging me or my siblings or them saying "I love you". They do now seldom on holidays maybe birthdays or during hard times or such
My 14yo still asks us to tuck him in. My 17yo not so much. We share "I love you"'s at bedtime & when any1 leaves the house or ends a phn conversation but my Dan is autistic tho he has learned some empathy & is thus appropriately affectionate at times
My little sister lives with me and I tell her a goodnight story then I give her a goodnight hug and kiss and tell her I lover her with all my heart every night
Lots of hugs and kisses and 'I love you's' for the littles. They know they can trick me into letting them stay up later if they keep asking for hugs and kisses. My husband gets hugs and kisses too, but fewer...he's not nearly as cute as my boys ;)
