If a police officer stopped you while walking down the sidewalk and asked for your identification, would you show them?

Got nothing to hide. The police have a difficult enough time

Here in Nevada if you don't show an ID when asked you can be arrested for vagrancy.

Probably not (but maybe, it depends), because I shouldn't have to. I would begin by asking them why.

Why would you have even the slightest hesitation?

As responsible citizens we have a duty to help law enforcement professionals.

I have no problem with law enforcement officials. I would show them if they were respectful. However, if they were rude, abrupt, or reacted poorly when I asked them why, I would be hesitant.

I almost never have it on me bc I haven't gotten my permit yet so only school ID which I don't rlly carry but if for some strange reason I got it on me, why not show it? I don't rlly care so why cause problems when I don't need to

Why not? I don't have a problem with it.

I have a tremendous respect for the law. Wouldn't show them my ID though.

Am I under arrest? Then I am free to go. Anything other than a yes or no answer to the first question will be met with me invoking my fourth and fifth amendment rights.

Happened. I don't usually carry one and don't have to show one. They had to accept this.

Your 4th amendment right says you don't have too. That's reason enough for me to not show them.

I just answered the anonymity poll and said I really have no need for it - I may have a right to it - but I have no need for it. Maybe it doesn't bother me because it wouldn't happen here - I know most of the policemen by name already - we either

Went to school together or I've met them through my considerable community involvement

That's cool. That's one thing I miss about my hometown is knowing everyone. It's really a gift to live in a town like that. And I'm honestly kinda jealous.

Just because you do not HAVE to does not mean you don't do it

I would ask if Ive committed a crime, if I have not then no I would never show them my id.

I don't want any trouble. If it doesn't cause you any harm, it's better to respect people who have authority over you.

I might tell them to bugger off. I definitely wouldn't show them my ID.
