Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Ben Franklin, and Alexander Hamilton go into a time machine and come to present day America. You are their guide. What do you tell them about their experiment?
I'd let Hamilton rub Jefferson's nose in the fact that his vision for America was more closely followed than Jefferson's.
Please don't have a heart attack on me!
Where have u been, man?
We kinda lost focus
Hey guys, you really needed to take care if that slavery thing right away. And you need to modify some if the amendments. Would you like to see my iPhone?
Ben Franklin: "what is this iPhone? Does it attach an eye into this tiny device?"
Welcome to the future. There is certain to be some drastic culture shock for you, as well as dismay at the current way many things are done.
That it has become diluted by big government activists
Go back! Go back!
States rights. Foreign banks. Gun control. Voting.. etc
Hey founders you forgot to protect us from The day when tryrants label hard workers wealthy, and think 5% of the population paying 90% of the taxes is still not fair.
I tell them nothing, because I have nothing of use to them. I listen, because I really, really want my own time machine.
Lets assume Ben Franklin made it from an oven and Paul revere's gunpowder tooth paste,
If tell them to go smack the sh*t out of our pitiful congress.
I think they would be more interested in smacking the shit out of the President.
Well guys, we are now best friends with the British, we are arguably the worlds best superpower. Politics as we know it is vastly different than how you knew it. Oh, and the Internet, yeah, everyone in america can look at anything. Any piece of...
Information, but most of us use it to watch videos of cats and their quests for cheeseburgers.
Hamilton wouldn't mind the first part.
Great question, Matt!
"There's this great app called Show of Hands, where you can tell everybody how you feel about the country today."
They would look at me funny and say, "What's an app?"
Then they'd be like "normal people participating in politics??!! Quick back to the time machine!!"
I guess I would start by explaining all of the social changes in America - that would be the best way to explain why their American has changed. Then I would start blowing their minds with the tech changes
Franklin and Jefferson would probably be like "how do I make this when I return?"
"Look what's happened to your little experiment! What do you think of the country now?"
Jefferson would probably do an I told you so moment, Washington would react socially, Hamilton would demand a life term president, and Franklin would want pure democracy and be mad we aren't as scientifically advanced anfpd educated as we could be
If anything, it would be Hamilton pulling an I told you so. We have an industrial and technologically based economy, as does every successful economic power. If Jefferson had his way we'd all be farmers.
That's true. He'd still probably want less checks and balances to deal with the changing world, and likely a life time president
Well yeah but let's face it Hamilton was the worst founding father.
I say, "Let's just say, now that there's time travel, can I go back with you guys?"
And I they say no?
Then I tell them they're lame.
Lame, what foreth is this term?
Matt, I'm sorry you never made it to on air.
No, that's not what I would tell Jefferson, et al.
They'd probably be like "what is this in air you speak of?" Franklin would then try to invent a way to step on air.
