Do the words "faith" and "believe" automatically make you think of religion?

"Faith" pretty much for sure, and "believe," mostly, although I know both of them have other meanings.

So I'm not super religious but I have home decor that says faith and believe.
I see it as both religious and non religious but a not so nice friend of mine actually degraded me for them and said I should take them down.

Absolutely appalled I reminded her that my grandfather is a preacher and it doesn't necessarily have to be a religious thing.

Faith maybe more so, but believe doesn't

Not usually. Although, if a person who I know to be religious says that - I may assume that.

As a scientist, I don't really say that. I say I understand science. Or I think science is correct, or can explain something. As soon as one claims a "belief" in science, one is open to claims that science is a religion, which is totally incorrect.
