I AM the 'picky' eater. (I, fairly strictly, follow a 'WAPF' type diet, raw dairy, soaked/fermented beans/grains, pasture raised meats/eggs, wild-caught fish, fermented veggies/beverages...)
Good question. Yes, picky eaters tend to get on my nerves. Hate if we order a pizza and all we can get on it is cheese. And people who insist they hate ALL vegetables just blow me away. I don't see how they function.
My wife is an extremely picky eater. Her parents tended to give in to her on food a lot when she was growing up. It has been extremely challenging- I nearly broke up with her over it when we were dating. I have zero tolerance for it now and she...
...has learned to figure out ways around it that don't involve asking me to indulge it. I know I may sound like a jerk about it, but it used to be quite debilitating for her and a hard nosed approach has actually helped her to overcome it.
Im not much of a meat eater and Im not fond of chicken or fish either but its not like I'm skin and bones and nobody is ever miserable when they go out with me.
I have known only one picky eater who was almost impossible to get along with, and thank goodness she wasn't family or a close friend. It wasn't even *good* things she liked; just very very restricted. We have a family member who is picky in general
and also doesn't eat gluten or dairy, and my daughter is vegetarian, but both of them do fine at restaurants or eating in other people's houses. (Except my kid doesn't like fish places.)
I am the picky eater out of my family and friends. It sucks! But I can usually find something to eat almost anywhere, as long as they have bread/dessert I'm good.
Picky eaters are terrible. I almost eat anything from fast food to vegetarian to lobster to exotic dishes like frog legs (yes, tastes like chicken but softer, make it chick). I'd feel restricted going out with a picky eater.
And food allergies or religious limitation or anything like that don't count in this regard, I mean people who just really only like to eat five different things.
I seem to attract picky eaters! :( I will eat just about any thing once, and most things more than that. My roommate in college and my husband are the pickiest eaters I've ever met.
Not in the least. But I have friends who are horrible. And it's such a bummer when they want to go out to eat. It's either a steak house or Italian. No matter what, they only will order NY steak or chicken parmigiana. Everytime. NO seafood!
At restaurants that are known to be good, I'll ask them to bring whatever the chef thinks I should have. they love it! And I end up getting to try something very special.
