Do you have more than one translation of the Bible in your house?
Japanese, catholic, king James,...
KJV, NIV, NASV, The Message, and a parallel w/3 other versions...
Probably... I'm pretty sure I have at least one family Bible that was my grandmother's, acquired when I cleared out my parents' house 10 years ago. I have no idea what it is, other than "old," & I'm not sure where it is right now. About 15 years ago
..I bought a Zondervan NIV, to use as a reference when having online discussions about various topics. I don't really need multiple translations unless discussions get *really* picky, though, & there are so many references online now anyway.
I have 0 bibles in my house.
I Don't want to discriminate here just wondering. I personally have more than 5 translations and often cross reference them, but I don't think that is common for "normal lay people".
My favorite is the new Jerusalem Bible
Holman, ESV, and probably NIV. English Standard version is the preferred. I like to refer to it as the "Elects' Standard Version.
I've never heard of Holman
Also KJV. The Holman is Holman Christian Standard.
