The drinking limit in the UK is lower than here, yet that's not a problem there.

While I don't think the 21 year old limit is logical, the Brits also have much better public transport than we do. Same with most of Europe. We don't have great public transport that's easily available, especially outside of cities.

I like the ideal that anything under a certain percent is a soft drink so lower age, 18 maybe, then hard drinks at 21.

I have several teacher family members, parents are less likely to help educate their kids now than in the past. Sex, drinking, drugs, evolution, math, reading, everything. And NC is the 2nd lowest paying state for teachers so we need parents involved

I think you might be confusing "wanting to parent" with a lot of things - one agreeing with today's education system, two having enough time (single parents, low income parent who work two jobs), three parents who find family time more important,

Some parents want to be involved, but on PTA night with over 4000 students only 100 parents show up... Only 2.5% care enough to be active

Four parent who are illiterate and are afraid of participating in school. I'm not saying their are parents (drug addicts, work addicts, etc) who don't do a great job parenting - but I will not believe they are the majority

Not wanting to be in PTA does NOT equal not wanting to parent. You need to wake up. Not wanting to be involved in PTA means not wanting to support school activities

Or that you just don't have time. That doesn't constitute a parent not wanting to raise their kid

"PTA night" doesn't mean you have to join the PTA, they talk about school ranking, fund raising, testing, picture day, holidays, weather make up days, parents get to meet the teachers and find out grading policies and expectations

That's that one example because someone asked where I got my info. I do NOT claim to be an expert. But in my experience with my 3 schools this is what I have experienced. Many parents work a lot and would rather be friends than teachers.

Being involved in PTA is not a show of how great your parents are at being parents. Mostly it just means they have the time and means to get there. A lot of parents won't show up because they think there will be

many other parents to support the school through the PTA.Unfortunately, since everyone thinks that, we have a very small PTA. I have several friends whose parents are great parents are are very invested in their children's lives and education,

but simply don't have the time or desire to attend a PTA meeting.

No it doesn't - it tests if a teacher can cram facts into a student - it doesn't teacher whether a teacher can inspire a student to think

I absolutely love it!

I mean, the needle part isn't fun, but it feels good to give something that you know other people will benefit from, possibly in a life-saving situation. I think "I hate needles" is kind of a lame excuse. I don't like them either, but I do it anyway.

God bless each of you that gives such a little bit of yourself to help a stranger. And, if you donate in the name of someone that has had to receive transfusion(s), it helps them financially.
