How do you pronounce the second vowel in "pajamas"?
I say it like jaw, my husband says it like jam, my daughter goes back and forth. I do say Jammies or even jam-jams (lol) to my kiddo most of the time and my husband makes fun of me and says, "why not say it jawwwwmies or jawwwm jawwwms?"
I don't often wear clothes to bed, but when I do, it's peeyawmuhz.
In the south in a small region if there is rain when it's sunny out they call it "the devil is beating his wife." Some states call it sun showers but most don't have a specific name for it.
I've heard both of those names :) very cool facts though!
Google map of pronunciations then click on businessinsider. It had 22 maps of USA that show how states differ in annunciating words.
I know :) this was inspired by the guy who did those. He's from NCSU
General - you have nice teeth! :-)
That's what I always heard growing up.
Thx it goes well with my smile :-)
a as in "jaw". Pajamas are my most favorite clothes, ever! They're the perfect apparel for when I go to my favorite places, like bed or Walmart.
They are just so comfy! :)
Yes, and match up spiffily with my Uggs! :D
Depends on the day. I say it both ways
I kind of do too. I'd had to really think about which one was more natural to me
I switch it almost every time I say it. I blame the fact that I have lived in to many parts of the country with vastly different accents
Change your h to another m and you've got it!
How about jammies
I'm waiting for someone to say "I just call them pjs".... :)
I almost did! Lol
The NYer paw-jaw-maas
Oh wait no, I take that back,I say it like phi-jah-ma's
Pih-jah-ma's and none of that D-J pronunciation, I says just the "j" alone not pihDjahmas
I spent a long time trying to figure out how to phrase that... Hopefully that makes sense... :)
(I also spent a long time trying to figure out how I say it...)
Thanks EB :)
