I don't think anyone is getting what they wanted out of the shut down. It looks, I think, to the public that they are all behaving like children fighting.

No we are not. No one is getting what they want because there is no compromise

If you make a deal with a child throwing a temper tantrum, they're going to keep throwing temper tantrums to get what they want.

Lol we were not throwing a temper tantrum, chill. We were making yet another attempt to repeal Obamacare. I don't really like the idea but it happened and at this point it's the Democrats that are unwilling to compromise. If they had an ounce of

Pragmatism then they would pass one of the 14 compromises the House has offered. You're not going to get a clean budget so stop hurting innocent people in a vain attempt to get it.

The ACA passed the House, then the Senate, then the president signed it, then the Supreme Court deemed it constitutional. How is shutting down the government over a law that was passed through every branch of government NOT a temper tantrum.

It's not a temper tantrum it's a debate. Laws can be repealed.

Nobody is "winning" anything here. Just stop suggesting that anyone is.

Not entirely, they are compromising, like they should.

Actually, states that are beginning to open and run their own "Federally run" parks and facilities are doing a great job! Federal govt is too big and trying its best to become all-powerful! Americans don't need all that..the spying, the prejudice, the "I'm the boss and it will be done MY way"!

1) The people are mad at everyone. You're delusional if you think anyone besides loyal, brainwashed Democrats think that the President and his allies in Congress aren't part of the problem.
2) No one is getting what they want. That's pretty obvious.

3) You're seriously linking "Democratic Underground" for your reasoning?...

Everyone needs to remember that in 95 Clinton was forced to the table kicking and screaming by Gingrich. It led to a BALANCED BUDGET.

I would say so only because the President has expressed he might *gasp* discuss a compromise.

They will pretend they did when they get their medical device tax cancelled.

But we know they suck. And they know they suck. That will have to be good enough.

Yes & no. Debate, discussion, focus on problems? Yes. Actual "got what I wanted when I started this"? No.

Which problems are being focused on? I hear a lot of distractions getting yelled about, but not a lot of focus on important issues. Unless the distraction itself is what they wanted, which I am more than prepared to believe.

No. They didn't want the Dems to go crazy and close monuments and the ocean. That could not have been predicted.

Uh, the ocean isn't closed. I would know, given that I live three miles from it.

All I have heard about is some places where licenses regulated by the federal government are suspended. That doesn't mean the "ocean" is closed.

Keep telling yourself that. It's not like the approval for Obama or his healthcare baby are good at all.

Well since their favorability rating has dropped to 24% I think not.

I don't really know what the Republicans wanted but know it was the Senate that was responsible for the shutdown.

You should try reading real news once in a while. AP, Reuters - foreign press if you are too paranoid to trust even those sources.

Not as of right now! Neither side has accomplished anything. Meanwhile, veterans are not allowed to visit memorials, and the debt ceiling deadline is approaching.

I'd say they are; their strategy is obviously to make government as ineffective as possible in the hopes that people will assume government can't work when it's actually that a *GOP-run* government can't work.

Republicans want efficient government by reducing the size of government. They have not received that yet.

Skarface Banned

The American people aren't having it. The GOP is more unpopular than ever, the approval ratings for the President and the ACA are going up, and most people know by now that the GOP is responsible for the shutdown.

political Georgia
10/13/13 11:29 am

Ugh! The President's approval rating has declined, and I have not seen one poll that shows the American people having a favorable opinion of Obamacare.

bethanyq Ess Eff

I am all in favor of efficient government. How does threatening not to pay our bills equate to "efficiency"?

political Georgia
10/13/13 12:11 pm

I hope everyone wishes to pay our bills. Some do not think we will default because of the amount of revenue we bring in.....

bethanyq Ess Eff
10/13/13 12:46 pm

You can default on more than debt payments. You can default on your obligations to the very people paying those taxes. I personally think that's just as important as payments to creditors since it's pretty much the reason for having a country.
