No, but if there was a scenario, where whites where underrepresented, and the two applicants where relatively equal, then it is logical to aim for proportional representation.

Affirmative Action doesn't allow unqualified minorities to get jobs. The applicants must meet all job requirements before being considered for a position.

Disagree, but it's important first to define what "better qualified" means. If both candidates meet the standards, whether for a job or for a college admission, it's strictly a personal bias to declare one "better qualified". Better based on what?

Your completely right.... If it's not a private business, for a civil service job the best candidate should be hired. Period. But at a private business the owner should be able to do whatever they want

At first I was taken aback by the idea of discrimination, but you have a point. If it's a private business and they want to sell to only a certain group of people, then they should be allowed to hire anyone they want by whatever means they want.
