If you had the chance to make a speech to the whole world, would you?
A speech is not enough.
But it's a start...
You have to convince people to join you in an effort. For example, I was involved in a nonprofit entity that provided laptops and wireless networks to schools together with teacher training etc. One of the school systems worked with us then started competing on projects. This was actually good.
They implemented their systems and training program across the whole of Montgomery county in the DC suburbs. We could not do that level of implementation with our funding. Many elected officials and wealthy people got exposed to these ideas. Now schools all over are doing more.
Were we responsible for what we have? Others took credit etc. that is ok. We definitely inspired and got things moving. That is called leverage. Take some capital and inspire others with more capital to their part. Let them take credit. They are valuable partners in getting the job done.
I don't really have something that general for the whole world. How about all of the rich bastards who have ten yachts and ignore the starving people all over the world.
I would really love to rise to such a tremendous responsibility. Since I'm a writer I think I could create a good speech and I probably would be composed enough to deliver it. My fears run in a different direction (heights, claustrophobia, etc.).
I thought I was doing that here ...
