Every night. No excuses. Should really do that when you have kids (especially young kids)

now that the kids have grown up with different schedules it is hard to. but when i have a family of my own we will eat together as much as possible

I wish :[ our family isn't close. Even though we live under the same roof, we rarely see each other and when we do we almost never speak to each other.

the day that ppl aren't eating as a family is really sad. if u live alone u do eat w/ ur family bc u r ur family so...

I live alone too, but I would like to try if I did have a family (that lives with me).

I live with my boyfriend and he works 12 hour nights and go to college full time and work part time. whenever we get the chance we eat dinner together but most of the our dinner times differ.

It's just me an my husband. We don't have room in out home for a table and we both work nights so we don't eat together often.

I make dinner for my husband and two sons at least 5 nights a week and we eat together. the boys have to set the table and clear their plates when they're done. seems to ground us a bit being a family. I think it's important.

Break down by income is interesting... Correlation there? Just seems odd there is such a distinctive difference there

@veritas- I was not trying to be hurtful but I do think it is a matter of priority. If it is important enough you will make it happen. I know not everyone can every night but I don't believe for a second that over half the country CAN'T sit down for dinner. Most just WON'T and it explains a a lot.

My husband and I work opposite shifts so we aren't able to eat dinner together during the week but we always do on the weekends :)

Start work at 5a, lunch at 9a, home by 3:30 and pretty hungry. I really can't wait until 6p for dinner. But at least I get to see everyone else eat before I go to bed. The poll suggests that I'm not alone in having a family with asynchronous schedules.

@krfoster. I know you didn't mean it this way, but that's kind of hurtful to people who CAN'T spend time with their parents every night or even week.

I cannot believe this result. We eat at the dinner table every night with the tv off. It's a great way to connect with our kids. We also ask one if the kids to say the blessing and we have family game night once a week. Family values, people, come on!!!!!
