An educator suggested that parents should be fined a percentage of the cost to educate their child if the child fails a class due to a lack of effort (i.e. kid not doing/turning in their work) as an accountability measure for parents. Yea or nay?

That was what led to this suggestion. We were discussing the failing grades and the fact that many are from kids that we send home with missing assignment reports to parents week after week with no change. Yet the teacher is the one who suffers monetarily due to pay-for-performance. Not parents.

Good idea I don't know if it can be carried out. As you know there are parents that just don't care if kids go to school they don't care if they do their homework. Thats very sad statement I think if the parents had to pay a price for their lack of judgment things might be better.
