Rep. Don Young (R-AK) recently referred to Hispanics as "wetbacks". Innocent comment or Guilty comment?

This is an example of latent racism. While the guy may not be actively a racist, I'm sure he and his buddies enjoy a good n***** joke.
It's a way of thinking your better than a whole race of ppl. Education will defeat this. And not a worthless religious one.

I'm dying to know how anyone with a 3rd grade education or higher can "innocently" call anyone a "wetback"?

He shouldn't have said it, but It's Alaska so he will win anyways. Alaska is to conservatism, as Massachusetts is to liberalism.

Not quite, definitely more libertarian here. Gary Johnson won a higher percentage here than his home state of New Mexico.

Most people are just blind to the necessary part if politics and only care about how much money the politicians bring into the state. This state gets much more back per tax dollar than we put in...

Move here its a liberals paradise:
1. We banned honor roll because it makes people feel bad.
2. We banned swearing because it might offend someone
3. You can be married at age 12 to your first cousin
4. We give our prisoners sex changes
5. We are a one-party state, reps never win.

3. I'm not sure if this website is accurate but
5. Is just an opinion but if you look at the number of rep politicians from mass you will find that I'm right.

I admire your directness and efficiency with words.

He said it in the context of his youth, when it was (according to him) the commonly used term. He said he didn't intend it disrespectfully. I don't see how a grown man in public service could NOT understand that it's disrespectful & probably was in his youth as well. If he'd used the term...

..."n****r" just as casually, would anyone have not wondered what the hell was the matter with him? Oh, and put it in this context: he said this in a radio interview, not in a casual private conversation with a couple like-minded buddies.

Exactly. You can't put the genie back in the bottle.

All Alaskan politicians are an embarrassment to the state.

Everybody knows that's a derogatory term. Looks like he may have let a word he uses in private slip out in the public sphere...
