If someone committed a violent crime against a family member but got off on a technicality, would you let it go or seriously consider seeking revenge?
And how would retaliation help anything but my own personal sense of justice? It could only cause more problems, I think.
what i think about this is that what done is done and you can't change what happen
Only for my mom or my little sister. Everyone else I don't have much contact with...
I'd kill that sick fuck! Nobody messes with my family!
If I thought I had a better than average chance of avoiding prison - then, yes.
I don't forgive easily. I love payback.
forgiveness is key
Jg5 so sad to hear of your friends loss. Forgiveness is an ongoing process. It really takes work. God bless you.
97123. Revenge is one of my favorite shows.
Danni. My prayers are with you. So very sorry for your loss.
violence does not beget violence.
Seeking revenge is a response of anger, not people thinking rationally. In the end, it is best to move on with one's life then to dwell on thoughts of revenge. The ability to forgive he who wrongs you makes you a stronger man (or women).
Same here I mean
As a Christian, I would try my best to forgive them. But as a husband/father/son/brother/friend, I might end up asking forgiveness for myself instead.
an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. murdering a murderer violently on your own terms is no "justice."
Wow... That kinda makes me embarrassed to be of the human race...
Revenge!!!!! (evil laugh)
they wouldn't make it to trial to begin with.
Karma will get em
I'd go nuts & either pop thr head off w a high-powered rifle or somehow lose control of my car as they crossed the street & turn 'em into a human speed bump (and wd then back over 'em just 2 be sure). Seriously, I'd take 'em out and wouldn't care if was put in jail. BTW, I'm also pro death penalty.
I wouldn't just let it go, but I wouldnt actively go out and try to kill them either. I would try to get them punished accordingly to what they did.
Fuck it. What's done is done.
Just because I would not seriously seek revenge does not mean I let it go.
and no going to jail for something you are guilty of is not revenge...just making a point that people belong to people even the "bad" ones
lost a child to a drunk driver, the driver went to jail and his mother lost too. There are no winners in revenge. it seems "right" it isn't
Turn the other cheek :)
@PMB: My point as well. Whether someone puts those thoughts into action is a different question.
Revenge should be served anonymously and alone. ;)
I'm trained to take someone's head off with a Lee-Enfield from 350 yards. I don't have any oppositions to doing what the legal system would not.
it depends. I have two young daughters (4 yrs and 18 months). if anyone did anything to them, they would be better off in jail than having to deal with me. I'm just sayin.
Has anyone been watching the show Revenge on ABC? I like it.
darn, wrong poll
BadBadger, sensors in the car and cell phone? That gets expensive. And they would have to be very precise to know who is driving and who is sitting a foot away from them
The ?? asks "seriously consider", which is still only thoughts. There probably aren't many who wouldn't think about it, but how many believe they would put thoughts into actual revenge should be the question!
All Hail Allah !
Lol sharia law should probably be adapted in our society it seems to be way the majority wants.
You can always call Dexter.
I'm with "opinions" though...it wouldn't be revenge...it would be justified punishment from a source other than the legal system :-)
If some sick dude raped or hurt my wife,he'd be a dead man...regardless of what the trial results are...if the legal system can't take care of business then somebody has to...
Revenge is a poor word. Some times the justice system fails to do the just thing. Ensuring justice is always correct and there are plenty of ways to do so legally.
would probably be a little different.
No, for several reasons: 1) if the question is implying physical revenge, wouldn't that be really dangerous? 2) I'm sure they'll answer to God in due time. 3) The more important thing to do is make sure the loved one is alright, or taken care of. Unless the crime was murder, in which case my answer
Further justice through the legal system: YES! Revengeful, illegal vigilantism: NO!
