Like it or not RJ the American people ARE going to expect POTUS TO FACILITATE AN EQUITABLE BUDGETARY AGREEMENT. You don't have to like it. You just have to accept that we expect it of our president. Perceive it wrong if you like but you are not going to change the expectation. PERIOD

Whether in the constitution or not O has a responsibility to lead congress to an agreement in the best interests of the people. He is instead playing political partisan games. O is not solely responsible but he does have a hierarchical duty to make this right. POTUS is not somehow "off limits"

O has a responsibility for leadership here as I outlined above. Why do you take such exception to me including O as partially responsible. You state the obvious to the letter of the law but also you vehemently decent O at any mention of him. Your cult-like defensive devotion to O is disturbing. :o(

Yeah, because continuing to swipe the 16 TRILLION dollar credit card is such a better alternative.
Did you sleep through econ? No, government theft and recycling on money will not kill the economy, stop buying their fear kool aid and grow a pair.

Why should I have to keep surrendering more and more of my labor to the state for their irresponsibility? Maybe they should work for free for a decade or two to pay for their recklessness. You can't just keep taking and taking from people, lest they finally decide to say enough.

@rj1969. My guess would be percentage wise. Simple math big guy. Go to the same spending and tax percentages during his admin. Saw you are from california and your immediate comment is very typical of people from the region. Look to "blame before you can solve" mentality is working great.

If only skeptisys. The proposed "cuts" are baseline cuts. - which are not cuts at all. They really just mean a smaller cost of living increase. Instead of a $21/month increase, it would be a $19/month increase.

RJ, for your point to be valid, we'd have had to nearly double the population. But the population only went up around 10%. Unless the last census missed 250 million people, you're reasoning is once again based on fallacy.

Unfortunately government spending has increased faster than the rate of inflation, economic growth & population growth. It will continue to consume us until we change the culture in Washington or it collapses in a painful event.

Congress is in charge of the purse, not the president. feel free to continue to project your opinion about the POTUS even tough your criticisms are unfounded.
all of our financial problems are due to congress, not the president. They have the power of the purse. period.

"In February, (Obama) put forward a proposal that included the largest tax increase in history and still left our national debt spiraling out of control, and the House rejected it unanimously." TRUE.

POTUS does have a responsibility to show leadership to facilitate the cooperative construction of a budget that is best for the American people. He has NOT shown such leadership on this issue. O is playing games for political points with our financial situation. I don't trust him or any other poltcn

and as for the tax issue, NJ gets the least back, of any state, in federal dollars than it pays in. States like Iowa take more money than they provide. Just a little FYI while you make yourself look like an ignorant holier-than-thou sponge.

think, we pay specific taxes toward SS. that money is used for other pet projects at our expense. if they didn't keep taking money out of the SS trust, it wouldn't be an issue.
the problem isn't SS, the problem is our representatives that take it for other purposes, any of us wouldn't agree to.

Take away MrO's credit card, and the cards of all in Congress. Impeach Mr Reid for dereliction. The idiots in Nevada should not have the power to reelect their boy this many times. Mr Reid is in the way of all progress as he carries the water for MrO. They both must go!

You really need some fresh air! Social spending has exploded. Social Security must either be reformed or it will disappear.
As for taxes, go ahead and fire Mr Cristy, then hire another lunatic lefty to raise NJ taxes. Then lets see how many more companies flee your state.

I'd support Clinton-era taxes if and only if the mindless liberals would agree to roll back spending to Clinton-era spending levels.

I'm less concerned about which way our taxes go, and more worried about the message a failure to resolve will send to the rest of the world, especially the independent financial rating entities who now judge the US like a corp. We don't need to lose any more stability in the eyes of the world.

You know "the government" is you, right? When you say the government spends more each year, remember who does all the asking. And before you point fingers, how'd you vote when asked if we should hire armed guards for every public school?

Both sides want to cut our social security. After giving trillions of our money to banks. While people are in their worst financial shape since the 1960s because of the banks and wars and tax breaks for the wealthy corporations. Don't let them.

What's the difference? Obama took an oath to faithfully execute federal laws. Instead he has ignored or blatantly violated the ones with which he disagrees. His office was not intended to be a dictatorship, even a benevolent one. He is guilty of gross malfeasance.
