Not that I know of. My throat sometimes gets sore and I get a light cought from irritation but I don't have a fever and I don't have shortness of breath or feel anything in my chest.
Yes. I friend has died but I mentioned that before. 3 cousins still in the hospital 2 in Lexington KY better but still in ICU in Lexington KY. 1 cousin in Cincinnati released from the hospital last week status of one unknown but I know they are alive. Both Cincinnati cousins are young under 30 I’m told. They all met for dinner and became symptomatic and I’ll soon afterward.
My friend in NY.
Who caught it taking care of his mom who was told by the ambulance driver she was t sick enough to take to the hospital (where she would have been tested, and eventually treated).
Now he’s given it to his wife. After showing symptoms for over a week, (and long term exposure to a person who eventually tested positive) he finally got tested.
By the time the results come back, he’ll either have survived and be donating plasma, or he’ll be a statistic. No opportunity to get treatment. (I suppose if HCQ were a Democrat-sponsored drug he’d have it already)
NY has it all ass backwards! No wonder they are the epicenter of the plague.
Or technically the reverse is true ... I'm technically his brother in law (his sis is my wife)... so I'm kind of reverse-labeling it the wrong way ... but alas.
Still just two family members. I don’t know how I don’t know anyone in MA yet. I’ve had a low grade fever for a few days but otherwise feel fine. Makes me wonder if I’m overall asymptomatic.
Radon-per the CDC, about 35.5 million people got the flu during the 2018-19 flu season. An estimated 34,200 people died because of the flu, or approximately 1 death for every 1,038 cases. www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/2018-2019.html
As of the most recent update, there have been 554,849 COVID-19 cases and 21.942 deaths, or 1 death for every 25.3 cases. www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/cases-updates/cases-in-us.html
Even if we assume the death rate will taper off, a death rate just under 4% for a virus where we lack a vaccine isn’t a laughing matter. It’s true COVID-19 isn’t killing people at the rate of the Spanish Flu epidemic. That doesn’t make this a non-issue.
Ha! You trust the mainstream media! That’s funny! I prefer the CDC definition...but you reserve the right in this country to be ignorant! Freedom is your right my friend!
What makes this ironic, borny, is what happens when the *next* new virus emerges in China, and the next, and the next and the next. Will cowboy call them *all* “the Chinese virus,” even if they cause completely different diseases?
I don’t think some people put this into a historical perspective. It’s the virus *right now* that has newly emerged in one part of China and spread around the world. But this is one moment in time, when it’s happened many times before.
Africa is a similar case... Imagine if we called both Ebola and HIV “the African virus,” as well as Lassa, Marburg, Zika and others. (Or even by the specific country names; there are more than one viruses from some.) Such different diseases... all from Africa. It would not only be sheer ignorance to call them all “the African virus” plus it would have a *horrendous* effect on public perception of how to deal with the actual *disease*a - and isn’t that of primarly importance?
I have read that the first known case of what has become known as “the Spanish flu” occurred in Kansas. I wonder how cowboy would like it if that were called “the American flu.”
Show me where I say you were the only one calling it that. I didn’t. I am quite aware that others are using the same too-vague terminology, and will have to come up with something else the next time a virus emerges in China.
It wasn’t an attack; it was an explanation. And it was focused on you because you were the one who made the original statement and I was replying to it.
You were actually replying to borny. Your comments had nothing to do with the fact that the Chinese virus hasn’t affected me.
You just piled on while ignoring the fact that this virus came from China which the Communists lied about their numbers to the WHO and made Chinese whistleblowers and journalists disappear. Like Dr. Li Wenliang. I see no reason to protect the evil Communist Chinese government.
Thanks, you’re right, I was careless in how I worded that. You’re correct that I was addressing borny, although I knew I was “talking” to you too, since you’re part of this thred.
You can call it whatever you want, of course. But that doesn’t mean that you’re using a good name for it, especially in historical context.
Answered "No", because it’s outside the specific scope of the poll. I do have a friend whose daughter is an ER Nurse, and contracted the COVID-19. She is currently in the hospital, and has a husband and two small children. I dearly love our front line people, and the only way they 'hear' that is by doing what they ask.
