Nearly 90% of you think the impeachment hearings will result in President Trump remaining in office. In that case, which party do you think benefits the most politically from the hearings?

Republicans, of course!! We have to remember the incumbent wins 98% of the time. In recent memory only one incumbent, a Democrat (President Carter), lost to Republican Ronald Reagan.

Now its no secret the media channels in the USA are historically pro-Liberal. They were in 2007, 2011, and 2017. And as we remember, they were so sure Clinton would win because they simply couldn’t believe a Republican could win!!

But alas, a Republican won, and right up to Trump’s inauguration the Liberals never lost hope. And thereafter for three years they still believed there was no way he could possibly hang on to the Presidency, but he did, and the Liberal press said everything bad about him they could, true or not, but given their record probably not.

So here we are with less than a year to go, and there are no sure signs a Dem has it in the bag. It may be anybody’s game but from where I sit (the john) it still looks like the ball is Trump’s for the taking.

Gerald Ford was an incumbent and lost to Jimmy Carter, George Bush was an incumbent and lost to Bill Clinton.

If the House votes to impeach, then Trump will forever have an asterisk by his name in the history books. The legacy of this awful presidency will always revolve around its scandals and even if the Senate won't remove him from office, the least we can do is stand up for the rule of law.

It’s about the rule of law and the constitution, things the Republicans don’t respect. The Democrats have to impeach this criminal and if you don’t understand that, then you probably don’t understand very much.

It isn’t helping the Democrats, and it is hurting the US. The ones benefiting are Russia and China. Since election night, the Democrats have worked tirelessly to weaken the office of the president, and to try to remove Trump. Now we are sitting with little to no defense against Chinese hypersonic weapons. We have been weakened and left vulnerable by these political antics.

It's a wash politically in my opinion. But it is something that must be done for the sake of the republic. We can't signal to future presidents that they are above the law.

We heard completely uncontested testimony that trump solicited foreign interference and exchanged national security interests for personal favors (the aid was challenged but the WH meeting wasn't even contested). There was a clear abuse of power, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering.

What Nixon did was a joke compared to this. It really is sad how the Republicans are choosing to put party over country and will bend the knee in fear of Trump's base.

I don’t think it can be considered on that basis. Impeaching, or failing to do so, is not about the political cost or benefit, it is about honoring and upholding the constitution and rule of law. If we fail to impeach and remove a despot who violates the constitution or abuses the power of office, the entire constitution that makes doing so mandatory becomes just a piece of worthless paper.

Democrats are digging themselves deeper in a hole.
They know they have unelectable candidates that are outside the norm of everyday Americans; with their socialist-leftist views which align with the media, college professors, and fringe leftist democrats - so they’re desperately trying to impeach as their only hope even with mostly their own opinions.
It’ll make the RNC raise more and Trump get more powerful.

Democrats just couldn’t be rational with a conservative/moderate Democrat from the south. It was that easy! Instead they send in the clowns.

You can’t win an election without the independents and moderates. Polls have time and time again showed the independents becoming more and more done with the democrats’ bs. You all are not listening, let’s try again, the Democrats turnout wasn’t good in 2016, the turnout will be much better in 2020, you don’t need the majority of independents, just a lot of them. I’m not saying Trump will lose either, I’m saying the 2020 election will be a lot closer than you believe, and Trump most definitely will not get the popular vote again! All the Democrats need to do is flip about 77,000 votes in the rust belt. Election night will be a nail biter!

I honestly expect this election to go better for the GOP than last time, because not only are the independents going more towards voting against the dems because of all the bs they’ve pulled, but many democrats are starting to get swayed, especially if someone who’s not Biden gets the nominee. In other words, soliciting a bribe qualifies under the legal definition of bribery which is expressly written into the US Constitution as a reason for impeachment.
