Favorite “foreign” food
Mexican food isn’t "foreign." The US stole half of Mexico.
I live sushi, but recently pasta of any kind has been my jam.
Mexican and Spanish are the same category
Cannoli, Carpaccio, Risotto... you get the point🇮🇹🇮🇹
I’ll go with some vegan Mac n Cheese. Yes, it is dairy free because it’s fake cheese.
Chinese - Hong Kong style chow mein
Mexican - pork carnitas tacos
French - steak au poivre
In this order: Italian, Mexican, Japanese, and Chinese.
Bruh please don’t vote Indian food
My real favorite, German, didn’t make the list so I choose my second favorite, Mexican
I find it ironic how Mexican and Italian are the top choices, yet most Mexican and Italian food in America is more American than anything else.
especially the Italian food. It’s completely different from Italian food today
Republicans love Mexican food but hate Mexicans. Makes sense.
Look everyone! The damn dirty Dem-lover is proving once again exactly why Trump won...and will win again: Dems are America’s true enemy. Never vote Dem. NEVER
Mexican, Greek, Chinese in that order. At bottom of list: Japanese. Blech.
Have you ever been to a Japanese steakhouse?
Went to a Benihana like 30 years ago. Does that count?
I’d say give it another shot. Their steakhouses are great. If you like steak and rice then you should like a hibachi grill. I honestly have no idea how truly “Japanese” it is, but it’s great regardless
That I’d go for. Thanks!
This truly depends on my mood. Traditionally I have said Italian, because I do love good Italian food, but I probably have Mexican food more often than any other type & I do enjoy Thai, Japanese, & Chinese.
Chinese, all day long. Pork fried rice, some lo mein, beef teriyaki, chicken fingers. It is all so, so good! One of my favorites to get on a takeout night. There is an amazing place by the college I work for in Shreveport called Cheng’s Garden. 🤤
Lemon rice. It’s sooooo freaking good. My favorite food on the planet (that’s not candy)
Mexican barely edges out Chinese for the top spot. It's almost a tie. It might be a three way tie if all Japanese food was Teriyaki, or a four way tie if all Italian food was pizza and none of it was "pasta". Luckily we have easy access to both Mexican and Chinese, along with the wonderful Teriyaki places that are almost as common as coffee shacks around here. And of course, Papa Murphy's.
Went with Japanese. I like Mexican, but the majority of ‘Mexican’ food served in the US isn’t.....
Mexican. I could eat street tacos literally every meal.
Italian is number 1? Okay. I would’ve thought Mexican, Japanese or Chinese.
Considering people think that any form of spaghetti and pizza is Italian, it doesn't surprise me
Italian because it’s most consistent. Mexican is a close second because some regions it taste like shit while others amazing
Japanese steakhouses are the best.
ever been to a Brazilian Steakhouse?
I have not.
I like Japanese BBQ more. Ironically I had that in China with Korean customers last week. Wouldn’t have ever guessed that a year ago
I love what I grew up with. I could make a meal out of soppresata, provolone, semolina bread and red wine.
Toss up between Thai and Indian. I went with Thai food, though, because I am missing it badly this week.
Less Republicans like Mexican food than Democrats!
I would say Italian, although Japanese food is also delectable
Who doesn’t like pizza and pasta dishes..Italian. 🇮🇹
Toss up between Greek and Japanese.
Such delightfully tasty dishes.
Authentic tzatziki is amazing.
I’d vote for Mexican but regional interior Mexican differs greatly depending on where you are. Coastal regions have different fare than mountainous or arid regions. American (Tex Mex, Cal Mex, Mex Mex, etc.) are all different also.
Had the choice been Tex Mex, that would have been my choice. I chose Spanish instead as you can’t beat a delicious seafood paella, albondigas, sopa de ajo, gazpacho, and much much more. The Spanish discovered spice long before the British invaded India for theirs.
Oh how I love Japanese and Mexican food.
I don’t care for curry, so Indian is my least favorite.
All so good, but it's closest between Indian and Japanese. Some days, I feel like I could live on sushi, other days on tandoori.
I'd live on Chinese if my wife would let me get away with it.
My Dad would, too. But your wife doesn’t have anything to do with it. 😂
Don't be too sure of that...she does like older men.
I like all of these listed! We probably eat American food the least... I cook a lot of Italian and some of my family is Italian and they cook almost only Italian. And we go out to eat a bunch. And if we eat out it is almost always something non-traditional American.
Wow! I’m in a big minority here! I love French food!!! 🇫🇷 🗼
Exactly what is French food? If you go to the Alsace region you’ll be eating German style. I think food is regional. Northern Italy uses little tomato and lots of butter instead of Oil. So I see foods bleeding from one region into another. Even in China the north eats noodles and the south eats rice.
Transportation was a big key in why certain regions have specialty foods. Today with better roads and refrigeration and rail things changed but basics remain the same.
Zimmy likes French fries. CNN told him they were French. 😂
Rons- love German food as well, French food is rich and creamy! Lots of cheese, great pieces of meat. Just love it!
Zimmy, their beef is not good, beef in europe is not good. But you are correct. Buttery, creamy, puffy dishes are great. I subscribe to the French Culinary Institute.
I have been a fan, a follower and reader of Jacques Pepin since the 70’s. He work two of the best teaching books ever. The Technique and The Method.
He eats snails.
They change the names to fool you in europe. Escargot! Calamari! Langue de boeuf! Confit canard langue!
Now don’t forget chicken feet, goose liver, hearts, spleens and lungs.
Jer- no I don’t like snails
Oh man. Escargot in garlic butter or pastry are great. Once at a specialty store I bought a 5 lb tin! I had to invite people over for a week or two to help me eat them!
People eat stuff or don’t eat stuff and that’s fine. I don’t eat fish! The things with fins and gills. I eat lobster, crab, snails, alligator, clams, squid, octopus, shrimp, langoustines, oysters. Not fish! It is a mental block.
I’ve eaten it 3 separate occasions and my takeaway is that it’s tolerable but tasteless and disgusting texture. No reason to eat it aside from trying something new or bragging rights.
Zimmy.. frogs legs? Or really tiny plates for really big prices?
Escargot are delish! Been eating them since I was four.
No frog 🐸 legs either
They are good too. But chicken lips are hard to come by.
Jer, I have the texture problem with fish. Can handle the chew. Escargot reminds me of a delicate shrimp when in garlic butter. . Lots of meats really need to be flavor enhanced with spices or butter or sauces.
Do you eat bait, Rons?
I don’t eat artificial flies or Rapala lures. So no. But I could bait a hook with the best of them. I was a master baiter!
Dio! Wait, yes I do eat bait! I fished the Atlantic ocean often. We used clams, squid, and blood worms. For shark fishing we bought ground up bunker fish as chum.
Did anybody ever see a Bass O Matic?
How about sushi?
No fish for me. Raw or otherwise. Actually Sushi is a rice roll and Sashimi is raw fish.
Yes. I’m aware. Sushi is actually the type of rice with sashimi on top.
🙋🏻♀️ I’ve seen Bass O Matic, and it is hilarious!
Chinese & Mexican
No Middle Eastern?
That’s what was thinking
That would win with me, too. I grew up on Lebanese and Greek food.
Mexican = Brkst, lunch, Supper.
Italian = lunch, Supper.
Chinese = Supper.
I like all of those plus Moroccan and Lebanese.
Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, but I will eat all on that list.
