Taxes should be based on:
Flat rate and everyone would pay their fair share
Income is not ideal, but wealth tax is beyond stupid. Wealth tax is a good way to crash the economy immediately. About the only good thing that could possibly come of it for Democrats is the crash would likely occur when it is apparent that a candidate that is pushing it will win and Trump would still be in office at that point so they could blame Trump for the crash.
flat percentage tax.
Taxation is literally extortion.
A necessary evil in a governed Society.
On wealth or income

Why should the people with lower incomes and are disciplined enough to increase their net worth pay more than high income people who spend it all?
Consent and services rendered
Haven’t you heard? You gave your consent when you decided to be born here.
Of I almost forgot. That must’ve been right after I signed the Social Contract!
You were put on this earth to provide others with free stuff, don’t question your superiors.
That’s right. That’s exactly what Jesus said.
Yes. Jesus loved the poor so much he wanted everyone to be poor. Hugo Chavez is probably sitting next to Jesus now reveling in his success.
God asks that we give more but “requires” ten percent. Ten percent should certainly be enough for the government.
I’m pretty sure Jesus said we’re supposed to sell everything and give it to the poor.
Since the government takes care of the poor, that means we’re supposed to sell everything and give it to the government.
Gospel of Social Justice, 12:31-34.
Jesus said work hard and pay for others to do nothing but get high and play Xbox. Liberalism 101.
That’s exactly right.
If Jesus had given Judas more free stuff, he wouldn’t have betrayed Him.
Read the “Fair Tax Book”
I know, I know. This poll is more about the insanity of a wealth tax than about ideal tax systems.
Neither! Taxes should be based on the absolute minimum need to handle the specific enumerated rights granted tO the federal government.
The focus needs to shift from “how much can we squeeze from individuals?” to “what is the bare minimum required to keep the essential elements of the government going?”
I like the idea of only getting the bare minimum required to run the government. After we figure that number out, how do we divide it up?
Then, and only then, should we return to the focus on how to most fairly collect just enough to meet those needs. I suggest that income across all layers of society is the fairest approach. I recommend a flat tax of 10% for all income, rich and poor alike.
