Congratulations 🎈🎉🍾🎊 and no questions
Have we climbed out of the gutter yet after today's game? Ugh.
Just amazing I’m like staring at the ceiling when I’m not on SOH. 😢
Yep, I did some of that today myself.
First, my hardiest congratulations.
Do you see the US as on the ascendancy or descendancy?
Thanks a lot, Odysseus!
Right now, I'd say we're in a downward trend. Too many on both sides of the aisle aren't valuing the freedoms that have made the USA unique, and government is riddled with corruption. The 2024 election is going to speak volumes for me as to whether this nation will ever approach the potential inherent in its creation, or whether it will end up throwing in the towel on the American experiment.
Honest answer and, again, congrats.
Do you believe that the US landed 12 men on the moon??
Have you taken a serious look at Andrew Yang?
I did, early in his campaign. I give him credit for how creatively he's marketed and packaged himself, but underneath it's just more liberal Democratic ideas. Not someone I would consider voting for.
Ehat can I do to get you into a shiny new Barzal Hype train today?
Trade him to Anaheim! Yeah, he's good. Love the +/- and shooting %.
Your username is literally Islanders colors! Join the best team in the league!
I know - it's one positive about them lol. But they're also the colors of my Broncos and my university alma mater, so... Enjoy your Isles' run, but remember last season and what happened to all the top seeds. The playoffs are all that counts.
Thank you, JPA!
Last movie you watched in its entirety?
Parasite, a few weeks ago. I'd recommend it. Interesting film.
Congratulations!! That's great orgblu.
Did you poop today? 💩
Which player do you enjoy watching the most in the NHL?
Yeli or belli?
Describe your ideal day.
What is the best book you’ve read recently?
What is a weird food combination that you love?
If you could do anything knowing you wouldn’t fail, what would you do?
Hi anniebananie! Nice to see you here! Hmm, interesting questions. May take me a couple of panels...
Poop - Yes - lol I knew you'd ask me, so I made sure to take care of business this morning!
I'll be a homer and say Ryan Getzlaf. He still makes a lot of great passes and so many smart plays. I also love watching Nathan MacKinnon and Sid The Kid - just amazing skills!
Gotta go Belli because of his outrageous defense, but I honestly thought Yeli deserved the MVP. That race was about as even as it'll ever be.
This may sound strange, but it really comes down to the basics of life. I'd want all my personal interactions to be pleasant ones, whether with my family, friends, strangers, customer service people, whoever. Just no bad vibes. Of course I'd want to feel good physically, have a blue sky 80 degree day, some good tunes in the car, roads with no traffic jams, and all my teams coming off Ws. And maybe a fun online conversation or two 😉. ☀️🌴🎼🚗
Best recent book, though I did skip some of the early chapters, was Jihad, by Paul Fregosi. A really enlightening, detailed, and entertaining (!) history of the Islamic jihad. Gives a real insight into the motivations behind their actions.
Probably not that weird, but the five or six fruits I combine with oatmeal is still my favorite. I did discover one weird thing last month. I got into the pumpkin spice thing, and broke up a Trader Joe's pumpkin bagel into very small fragments and mixed it into oatmeal. It worked best with a grated apple. Pretty amazing.
About what I'd do if I knew I couldn't fail - this is the dad perspective talking... I'd talk about the really important things of life with especially my kids, but maybe some other people too. I think one by-product of being so busy is that we live very superficial lives, and we relate to each other superficially. If I knew I would be listened to, I'd try to impart more of the "heavy stuff" to those I love. Life is short.
Lol I had to make an appearance here. I had to try to get good questions lol
Good about the poop!!
I think you’ll like watching Kirby Dach in a couple of years. They compare the two. You might just like the hawks. You love those cole harbour boys! Sid is cool and a great ambassador for the sport.
That’s super interesting to me. I’d cheer for Yeli (obviously), but I felt that he was defensively lacking. I knew once Belli got the GG that Yeli wouldn’t win. I feel like the brewers September weakened his chances to win.
I’m with you!!! That day actually sounds super cool! Warm days and cool people are pretty neat. No traffic, what a blessing lol. It’s crazy how teams doing well actually changes your day. I’d maybe add sleeping in.
That’s interesting. I’ve never heard of the book, and I’ve never really researched about the jihad. What did they list as motivations. Entertaining...hmm, that’s interesting to say!
Oooooo, the pumpkin spice thing got me a little bit. I like pumpkin spice English muffins. I bet those are super good!
That’s really nice to say. I’m with you about the superficiality of our interactions. It’s hard to stop and take everything in. We just have to enjoy the ride a bit more.
Dach is compared to Getzlaf? Is he getting much playing time? It's amazing that little town can produce both Nate and Sid!
The MVP voters fooled me. I thought if they didn't hold Trout's injury against him, they'd do the same for Yelich. But no. You're right, I think. It must've been the defense.
Yeah, I'd love a day like that!! Speaking of our teams, did you see the Denver game? That's four 4th quarter leads blown now. Boggles my mind.
Not a list per se, just a continual reminder through the centuries that their overarching goal is to make the entire world theirs, by any means. If the book was a movie, it would be rated X for mayhem.
Lol I was mad when TJ's stopped selling them after Halloween. I thought pumpkin season went through Thanksgiving!
Yeah, it's hard to put into practice. And hard to get into deep topics with people who really aren't open to listening to you. And meanwhile the clock ticks on...
Ooh, one more thing about the MVP vote - you make a great point about the Brewers' September hurting Yelich's chances. I believe the fact that they played so well at the end without him might have been the deciding factor.
Yep! That’s what the experts say. He’s actually not getting too much time. He was getting like 7-8 minutes a game, but is still scoring goals. He had two last night! Seriously! I loved watching the video of them working at a local Tim hortons lol
I honestly thought that Trout wouldn’t win it because Yeli didn’t. I figured they were considering the injury a bit more. I think it was the combination of September and the defense. I think Cody stole some HRs this year. As a brewers fan, I will say that Yelich is so much more entertaining to watch than Cody. I had to send some love that way. Lol
I heard!! I was at a meeting, so I missed it! That’s bananas!! How does that keep happening??
Interesting, I’ve never really looked at radical Islam. I’m trying to deepen my understanding of Islam, not the radical stuff. I feel like I have almost a duty to better understand that faith. It’s so sad to see radicals really change the perception of a faith.
I also thought so! They start pumpkin season in August, so they might as well keep it until December.
Seriously!! I feel like our society needs a communication overhaul. It would be super cool!! I guess we can only affect the things we can control.
Wow! Maybe you'll have a franchise player for the next 15 years. A guy to set up your goal scorers would be huge.
It's weird how some superstars have gone to the Avs late in their careers. Could you see the two of them getting together after Crosby's done in PIT?
They're both fun to watch. Can you believe I probably saw more of Yelich than Bellinger because we don't have the Dodgers' station?
I think it's more than one thing. Sometimes a defensive mistake, a missed FG, a terrible call, or play calling that makes you want to bang your head against a wall. We're that close to being 7-3. How do you blow a 20-0 halftime lead against a playoff team on the road. Unbelievable.
I'm very skeptical it will ever change, because the violent factions have a strong foothold.
It makes perfect sense to keep pumpkin season going that long. We did find pumpkin bagels at Target this weekend, though, so maybe stopping it early is more a Trader Joe thing. Hopefully.
Whoa, I agree 150%! Communication overhaul is a great way to put it. How to accomplish it is the question.
I think we’ll have him for a bit! I’m looking forward to seeing him grow. I think him, Strome, Debrincat, and boqvist will makes hawks fans happy for a while. I think Crosby will probably retire a penguin. I can’t imagine Kane and Toews going anywhere else. You never know!
That’s so bananas to me. Whats the boundary to watch the game? It’s weird how RSNs work. Yeli is easier on the eyes, so it’s better you see him more often lol. I’m glad you get to see the brewers, what a bunch of cool cats.
That is so unbelievable to me. I’d be so mad as a player to have that happen. I’d be frustrated with the coaching staff. I was cheering for you guys, too.
I think a strong foothold in the media, but I think of Indonesia, which has so many Muslims. From my understanding, they’re not having the same issues with jihad. I think with the jihad there are other factors that spur a group to behave in that way.
I think with the jihad there are other factors that spur a group to behave in that way.
I know our local grocery stores have pumpkin stuff still. I’m sure you can find stuff from other stores.
It truly is! It’s a tough this that needs to be worked on daily.
Congrats, amigo!! 🎉
What color is your toothbrush and how’re you doing?
Thanks a lot, ima! My toothbrush is white and dark blue, with light blue, dark blue, and white bristles. Strangely enough, that's the same color combination as my house. 🤔
As to how I'm doing, some days are better than others. I try to appreciate the good times, and try to hang on to the positives during the not-so-good ones, with varying degrees of success.
That’s a good outlook. Gratitude for good times can carry us through a lot of bad. May your good times outnumber the others. 😊
Thanks very much. I hope that's what happens.
Do you have a favorite YouTube channel or YouTuber?
Thank you, snaggle!
Finally I can say yes to this. In the past I used YouTube mainly for music and concert videos. But since I've become a big fan of English Premier League soccer, I watch a bunch of different shows about my favorite team, Chelsea Blues. Blue Lions TV would be my favorite channel.
You’re welcome! 😺
Question: You have unlimited resources and 72 hours free from any commitments. What do you do?
Two answers: One, since I've got unlimited resources, I'd buy a beautiful house here on the beach on the Balboa Peninsula, and dream cars for each of my family members.
Two (how's this for a company man answer...), I'd spring for plane tickets to SoCal and hotel accommodations for all my favorite SOH users, and we'd have the SOH party/convention/whatever we've always hoped to have!
Are you still Hungarian?
Igen (yes)!! 100%!
Tongue to b-hole who are you choosing?
😂😜😂 Of all the sexual things I'd do, that isn't one of them! No aspect of oral has any appeal to me. Like somebody once said on here, for me that orifice is "exit only."
LOL correction - "anal," not "oral."
Congratulations !! 🎉🎊🎉
1. How do you describe your political views?
2. Are you religious?
3. What are you really good at?
Good questions, Krystina! Inserting myself here to see the answers!
And Congrats, Orgblu!
Thanks, Krystina and 4JC!! Love these questions!
1. It's not easy to describe. I consider myself basically conservative on most main issues - lower taxes, pro-life, smaller government, etc. But there are a few where I hold more liberal positions - police/law enforcement misconduct, some environmental issues including offshore drilling and endangered species protection. And there are some where I lean more libertarian, such as the domestic spying nightmare we have in this country.
2. It's funny, I don't consider myself "religious," but I'm a born-again Christian, read the Bible, pray, attend church weekly, so I guess I check the boxes lol.
3. That's a tough one. I think I was good at all my jobs. Lol I guess the "holdover" skills from my former positions are helping my kids plan their class schedules, and being my daughter's personal batting coach (she plays high school softball).
You’re welcome, orgblu! So glad that you’re a born again Christian! I asked you a question, below, which pertains to what you said here, so I’ll ask it again. What you said about scheduling your kids’ classes...does that mean you homeschool them, as well?
Excellent. Good answer on the political. You’ve never seemed like one of the ideologically possessed and that answer shows you’re not. 👍🏼
Thanks, I really do evaluate each issue individually. It just works out that I usually end up agreeing with the conservative stance, though not always, as I explained.
If you were a salad dressing, which would you be?
Great question! Idk if this exists, but I'll invent it - Blueberry Cashew. I'm sometimes a little nutty, sometimes a little blue, but ultimately sweet and satisfying. 😎
What is your favorite letter in the word "yogurt"?
LOL I've spent entirely too much time wondering how to answer this one! I guess I'll have to say "o," because it's the first letter in orgblu10! 😜
What is your profession and your favorite hobby?
Good questions, Praet! Inserting myself to see his answers!
My "profession" for the last six years has been Full-Time Dad. Before that I was an evaluator at a large university, working with transfer students. I also worked a couple years as an academic counselor at a community college, and seven years as a high school baseball coach.
I don't really have much time for hobbies, per se, but they would probably be watching sports and listening to music.
That’s THE most important profession, imho, orgblu! As you know, I was a SAHM for 33 years! I noticed you said something about scheduling your kid’s classes above. Does that mean you homeschool them as well? What ages/grades are they?
I agree, 4JC! Too bad economic needs keep more people from investing more personal time in their kids these days. No, I don't homeschool them. My youngest daughter did online school last year, but she had all online teachers. I wasn't her teacher, just a liaison with the school, counselor, teachers, etc. When I was a college counselor, one of my main duties was helping students wisely plan their class schedules each semester and help them formulate a degree plan. Most had no clue how to do that. Now I assist my own kids. My oldest is a junior in college. We just did her registration for next spring last week. My son is a senior in high school, so I'm closely involved in helping him with college planning. Our youngest is a HS sophomore, and also a two-sport athlete, so there's a lot in our plates with her. Lol I don't call it "stay at home dad," because I'm rarely at home very long.
@praetorianus - thanks for the share!
Yes, I agree, orgblu! Many have to SACRIFICE financially to do it, as we did! So you have three kids very close in age! At any point, were all three of them teenagers at the same time? I sat down and aded it up one time, and found out that, except for one 6 month period, we had had at least one teen in our home for a total of over 20 YEARS! We joke that’s why we’re basket cases now! 😂🤣😂
This will help me remember you better! I used to get you and bluerum mixed up, probably because of the blu in your names! That makes me realize that I don’t think I’ve seen him around in a while. Have you?
Yes, we've sacrificed plenty financially as well!
There are about 6 1/2 years between the three kids. There was a period of about four months in 2017 when they were all teenagers, and I think we'll have had at least one teenager for 14 straight years by the time the youngest turns 20 in 2024.
I did see Bluerum on here yesterday. Lol you could also tell us apart by:
I'm in CA, he's in AZ,
He's tall, I'm not,
He's a teacher, I used to be one.
(I could be wrong about him living in AZ. I think he was planning a move.)
Wow....very close together in our years with teens in the home! Of course, we have 4 kids, with a spread of 14 years between the 4.
Thanks! I’ll try to keep all that in mind! I think the teacher thing might be another reason I get you confused!
Yay! 🎉 🔥
