Have you had to get air in your tires because the TPMS light came on in your car within the last 30 days?
It’s butt cold! 🥶
I've only had it trigger once, a few years ago. I had checked the tires at about 50°F, and had to drive into the city a few days later when it was near 20°F. That should have only made a few pounds difference, but a few pounds in that case was more than the 10% it takes to set off the alert. So still plenty of air to drive on without risk of tire or wheel damage, but still, an annoying yellow triangle where my digital speed readout should be. I've learned to set the monitored pressure at exactly the 33 lbs cold recommended for normal driving, regardless of the temperature, then adjust the pressure for the difference between the temperature at that time, and the expected low temperature within the next week (until the next scheduled tire check). The TPMS does not care if the tires are over inflated.
No, but I have an air pressure reading display option available in my Toyota Tacoma. Checking the readings, I found one of my tires was low. Pumped air into the tire and it slowly dropped again. It had a slow leak caused by a nail; I had it patch repaired at the dealer.
Mine did about two months ago.
That is much sooner than expected.
My van has a slow leak in the right rear tire. I see that light every few weeks. I just need to get a new tire.
There are plenty of places that will repair it. Costco is $11-$13.
I’d try a repair first. I had a slow leak, had it repaired and no problems since. It’s well over a year ago.
My thoughts about replacement are also driven by the fact that I need to put two new tires up front. The tread is getting too low.
That makes sense. If you are planning to replace 3, I would replace them all.
Oh, I see, that makes sense. Just trying to save you money if I can. 😺
Which I very much appreciate, thank you! I need to just get 2 new tires up front and rotate those old ones to the back.
Do you have enough tread to get 2 for winter?
Oh yeah. The two tires currently up front are okay. Once I get two new tires on my front wheel drive van and move those back, I’ll be golden. 😊
I want to know that you and your family are safe. I’ve always gotten all four tires replaced.
Aww, thank you! I just need to rotate and I’ll be good to go. The tread isn’t too bad yet, but with that leak back there I think it’s time.
Yes, I agree
Every other day for past two weeks..had a nail in the tire. Took it in free repair and free tire rotation.
Not yet but it’s coming.
In a few days.
My light comes on when it’s cold.
Dude... my daily is a 2007 Tacoma and the TPMS indicators are broke dick. I’m always driving around with that damn light on. I will replace all of them when I get new tires. Which...at my rate of driving...will be years from now...dammit.
How many miles do you normally drive every year?
Maybe 7k a year spread out between 4 vehicles.
Man, mines worse than a light. Every time I turn my car on I get 3 microwave beeps and a "flat tire" indicator.
So fucking annoying 🤦🏼♂️
Squid, that is next to nothing.
Happens every autumn.
The TPMS light is always on in my car because the front passenger side one broke. I haven’t taken it to the dealership to get replaced yet.
I need to fill my tires.
Had to do it yesterday.
