In your opinion, is this excessive treatment by police officers?
When all of you pass the cops exam then you can learn what is like on the street
What would have happened if he just pulled over like normal people do?
It seems like your answer implies the answer to the question is “Yes. It’s excessive.”
No when you don’t comply with being pulled over and you make the police chase you endangering bystanders you get what you deserve
So, in your mind, excessiveness of force is dependent on the actions of the target. In your opinion, is there anything that would constitute “excessive” on a disobedient offender?
If the offender stops and pulls out a cellphone and then gets shot that’s a grey area the nazis used extreme force on civilians so did po pot after you complete a shoot dont shoot range without any mistakes as I do each year then we can talk
So, you’re saying cops should look to the nazis & pol pot for examples on behavior when dealing with a suspect?
The goal of this interaction in the video, I assume, is the arrest the man. If that is the goal, it isn’t excessive to beat the man with clubs & kick him in the head while he’s laying on the ground instead of putting cuffs on him?
Yes, seems obvious from what i can tell.
It would be nice if the person filming wasn’t having a seizure
“can’t we all get along”...and even today people think the police were in the right? 🙄
Rodney King was refusing to cooperate, police actions justified. Some of King’s aggressive actions were cut out of the video which was widely circulated by the media.
I know the defense. I see this video with a dozen cops standing around a guy on the ground. A couple continually kick him in the head. At that point, I don’t see him being aggressive at all & easily placed in cuffs.
Assuming that really happened before, it just looks like well-armed men taking revenge. Not what cops should be doing.
So in your mind, a man on the ground being beaten and kicked by 4-5 men is perfectly ok? Good grief. What is the matter with people. There is NO justification for it, just like there was no justification for the police strangling the man in NYC.
Ok, King was being an aggressive asshole. The actual time of the “beating” was exaggerated by the media showing it repeatedly in slow motion.
I’m not really talking about the media or even really the case at the time. I’m talking about this video in today’s times & context.
This video (doesn’t look in slow motion) looks excessive. He could have been put in cuffs at any time during the video, but instead was beaten with clubs & kicked in the head.
Putting an aggressive 300 pound man in cuffs isn’t as easy as you might think. Tasers weren’t used back then. Cops aren’t paid to get down and wrestle with drunken aggressive screwballs who refuse to cooperate.
King was tased.
Also, I see no attempt to cuff or restrain.
Is the goal of police to beat people into unconsciousness so they can cuff them after?
I think based on 4boot’s comments, MN is probably a good state to stay away from ... either that or his views are an anomaly.
Nice generalization shygirl. Would some 120 pound female officers be expected to get down and wrestle and cuff that clown? Or, is there a double standard?
The local jury appropriately cleared the officers, but the feds crapped their pants after the insane riots and looting and prosecuted again.
Ok, so he was tased...obviously didn’t work.
Except it did considering he was lying on the ground being beaten by a half dozen people.
Shygal, I have lived in Minnesota. I have family in Minnesota. Trust me when I tell you 4boot doesn’t represent a majority of Minnesotans.
Thank God, snag!!
Yes. It appears excessive in the video.
Yes. Is that the Rodney King beating? I saw the date. Terrible terrible.
Yes. I see it again & cant figure how they were acquitted.
I couldn’t believe it either! Stunned!
Rodney King? That was news when I was in high school. That was excessive.
We changed the slogan from "back the blue" to "black and blue".
I lot has happen on this topic since 1991. I wonder what people think about it now.
Inspired by this podcast:
BTW For all the republicans who hate me on here, check out season 2 about the Clinton impeachment. Episode 8, especially, will give you political boners.
Farthead, Be sure & tell the Police how much you hate them, when they save your 🥺sorry arse from a robber, of junkie high on dope🤪‼️
🙄 Great argument.
Based on your response, I’m guessing you see the video & do not find it excessive. I’d like to hear the reasoning behind that.
Only when you need one🤬🤔🤭🤫😵‼️
Ok. I guess we aren’t going to get any reasonable & intelligible response on the topic.
Blowfart💨The same type of edited video fiction on Rodney King, that was used on the Michael Brown “hands up don’t shoot” that also portrayed him as a helpless docile victim, which even Obama’s AG investigated & said was a lie🤥‼️
So...you’re argument is “fake news!”?
I guess that is one way to put today’s spin on an 28 year old video. Please give me some sources that that specific video of the beating was edited to help with your point.

So...that link was nothing.
