Members of the Millennials generation have started to use the term "Okay boomer" to refer to their older counterparts, showing the exhaustion and ideological gap between the two generations. Do you find the term to be more derogatory or humorous?

Boomers are easily the greediest generation. They have wrecked the country for all that have come after. I’m unconcerned with their whining.

It's better to be ignored than have the hate that the boomers are getting.

Maybe if boomers didn’t berate millennials for years, we wouldn’t be having this issue.

It's just as derogatory as everything the Boomers have said about the younger generations, but 1000% more humourous.

Exactly, baby boomers can’t complain because they brought this upon themselves.

“Ok a Boomer” is used when you’re debating with a boomer and they’re trapped in their mindset and unwilling to listen . So you “ok boomer” them

There’s no point in having this conversation if you won’t acknowledge that your generation has caused lots of damage that has lasting effects on everyone else

If you won’t listen to anything anyone has to say

It’s used to cut the conversation as soon as you realize there is no point in continue the debate

Obviously now it’s being used in memes and to shut people up before even hearing their side.

What is BS about what was said?

That’s literally the reason why the term was coined.

So millennials are trying to live up to the criticisms from the boomers huh? Bold strategy cotton

When responding to someone who is obviously not a boomer, or making fun of the meme itself it can be amusing.

When it’s just another catch all phrase used to dismiss your political opponents it’s significantly more annoying.

I've never heard the term but I'm guessing your take on it is correct.

As a boomer, I would consider such a statement as idiotic. I don’t generalize about a whole generation and neither should they.

There isn’t a set date for the start/end of a generation. There are many theories.

1992, falls pretty much in the center of Millennial

Millenial basically means you are old enough to remember the turn of the millennium.

I'm not sure how to feel about it. In a way it kind off comes off like "your opinion doesn't matter because you are old and will die soon to know the consequences" type of thing. And I'm not for it in this regard.

I disagree Talren. Young people should respect their elders by default. But of course they can lose the respect.

If you can’t be a role model for kids and earn your authority naturally, and instead have to wave your elder status in front of their faces to get them to “respect” you, then you don’t know how to treat children in a productive manner.

You disrespectful, snot nosed children need to step it up a few notches before I give two shits about you and your pathetic dreams! Have a blessed day! 😇

And see, that right there is how you get children to become brats and go crazy with drugs and sex, etc as soon as they go out into the real world. Because instead of being treated like human being like they would be as an adult, they were treated like pieces of garbage for 10-15 years. They don’t know what it’s like to have freedom and to be treated like a fellow human being, so how do you expect them to know how to handle it when they’re thrust into the real world and suddenly have all that? Thank you for the demonstration, Diogenes.

Age does not determine respectability, your actions do. I’m not going to respect someone just because they are older. Am I more likely to tho? Yeah probably, they’ve had more time do do stuff that deserve respect

I don't understand the hate between both generations. I personally would take advice from a boomer than a millennial just because they have more life experience I see both sides of the positive and negative contributions both generations have done. I think Boomers led some great changes in their younger era and basically led out the framework for the changes Generation X did and Millennials are trying to do. I think millennials are like that "Black-sheep" type of generation that is trying to create change but other generations even us Zers are not on board on the type of manner they want to implement those changes. But black-sheep does not mean negative connotations it's just that you guys are too advance in retrospect to society as a whole. In a way I think Zers will have better luck at implementing those changes since we see issues in a gray manner as opposed as black and white of other generations but we also have our issues.
