I think American liberals (sorry guys I use this phrase a lot but I'm American French so liberals in Europe are way different) should calm down their excitement before they start waving flags of victory and "Blue Wave". They do this every election and it gets almost ridiculous that they feel the need to celebrate every victory as if they have won the World Cup or something. First you guys will probably think this is an excuse but the reality is that this governor had such low approval rating that I actually blame the lose on the responsibility of Republicans to actually think smart of who they throw their support to. If you want to purposely lose, then you guys did great job by electing (R) representative to be somebody who is highly unpopular. In contrast (D) was way way (even for somebody like me who is centre-right) likeable. So Democrats congrats but dont think this is a Trump referedum because really it isn't. His approval in KY is much higher than (R) candidate.

In addition , (honestly avoid Twitter during election day because they think it's the most magically thing that has happen in their lives when their candidate wins -children in adults body really 🙄), the Republican Party fared really well. Basically sweep all other elections in the state solidly. If anything I would be worry that Democrats only won governor by 0.3%- 0.4% considering how low of an approval (R) had and the fact that the (D) is party of this hugely labeled family and well known in the state didn't carry it by more than 3% as some polls predicted. I'm not justifying Republicans lack of strategy and overconfidence. Just that parties and their members who are not in control usually get very emotional and analyse results very surfaced level but this was certainty not a Blue Wave , probably a blue mist or ripple at best.

The people of Kentucky are obviously smart enough to understand that.
