Should there be sanctions against Mexico for the killing of 9 American tourists?

Chump should talk to their President. He’s so worried about foreign crime.

I want that investigated more. I’m not sure that was a “caught in cartel crossfire” or “cartels running amok” like it’s currently being shown.

I've heard the theory that they were mistaken for a rival cartel because they were a convoy and all traveled in black SUVs similar to all cartel vehicles

Maybe but Ervil LaBaron killed so many people and I don’t know who leads it now but Tom Green, a pedophile, who served prison time in the early 2000’s. They believe in blood atonement, child marriages, incest, etc. LaBaron killed or ordered killed, over 25 people. He molested numerous children. Green has 35 kids and wives kids. Ervil LaBaron had 50 kids and 13 wives. At least 4 of his wives were Mexican.
10 years ago, Erik LaBaron’s was kidnapped by the Cartels and the boy was let go when they refused to pay. Ben LaBaron ran a crime fighting group in Chihuahua. He was murdered 10 years ago. Ciudad LaBaron members attacked a group of locals with gunfire about 14 months ago.
This group was driving to a wedding. No idea who was getting married or their age.
They did find a suspect yesterday in Agua Prieta with two hostages of this group do, who knows what they will find but there’s probably more to this story.

Who do you think consumes more drugs, Mexico or the US? Maybe if we stopped buying it there wouldn't be enough profit for the cartels to stay in that business.

Plus, the vast majority of the weapons used in the Mexican drug war come from the United States.

Yes. They need to control their country. It’s the biggest powder keg in the world.

We have to stop being the bully in the schoolyard and reach out to other countries to ask what we can help them with.
Too bad the rest of the world doesn’t trust us anymore. They know they’ll have to do something down the road for us unless we get rid of certain parties in DC... right now all they get offered is “Al Capone” type “assistance” ... and then the offer could be denied on a whim.
.
We had a great run as the White Knight of the world.

Dollars don’t always mean assistance... it’s why Kennedy inaugurated the a Peace Corps and VISTA.
The type of help many countries need is to be taught/trained in methods of criminal justice - we’re not that good at it either, but I think the US does a better job than most countries.

Fitz .. your comment 👆 does not apply to the education and training argument. I have 3 family members that travel the world 3/4 of the year and they would disagree with your myopic statement.

No.

But I'd love to see Mexico take Trump on his offer to allow U.S. Military involvement to seek and destroy the cartels.

They are a proud people and they really want to try to get a handle on the issues without another country’s Army invading.

Belittling another nation because they have internal strife that is tearing them apart doesn’t help solve problems.

At some point you have to recognize reality though. Mexico has a criminal element within its borders that has enough firepower to take on the Mexican military. That is no joking matter.

So proud they come to the U.S. in droves...

Agree, George.

As for the other comment, if your life is in endangered, most people run - and at that point, do you really think about direction? Or do you consider someplace you’ve *heard* is safe? Most of them think they are headed to the Promised Land because of the crap they see on tv, etc.

... it’s kinda like some American *news* outlets that *hear* a piece of info and then add innuendo before broadcast.
“Quick! Add some flair and get it on the air/tweet NOW! We’re losing advertising $$s!!”

They weren't tourists. The were dual us-mexican citizens who had been residents in Mexico for decades.

Also no as this wasn't goverment that committed this

Mostly correct, but looking the other way brings some responsibility to the Mexican government.

Still if you are going to impose sanctions, at least impose them on the guilty party.

Not that it matters, but they had dual citizenship.

So what? That’s a false equivalency.

ILY3000 vote him out

Why would ANYONE vote no?

Because it wasn’t carried out by the Mexican government. That’d be like sanctioning Italy for someone killed by Cosa Nostra.
