At Segregated Wings Cafe, the restaurant segregates white and black customers. White customers sit on the right side. Black customers sit on the left side. Should it be legal for the restaurant to be able to do this?

Segregation is and should remain illegal. However, in my google search I couldn’t find anything about this restaurant. I found the name in Kansas City, MO but nothing about segregation. Do you have a link?

Well yeah. It’s their restaurant. No one else’s decision to make.

If that’s their shtick.....fine. They can go out of business or succeed. I would not eat at a place like that but maybe others would

Looks like me and my fiance are eating separate that night. Good thing we don't have kids, I'd have a hard time figuring out which side to put them on.

I will split the time they eat with both of us in a separate, but equal way?

They can choose to enact idiotic models for their business. They will likely be out if business in the near future

They’re a private business. They can seat whoever they want, wherever they want. It was wrong when the government mandated that seating, but a private business can do whatever they want. Though I personally wouldn’t eat at a restaurant like that because I don’t agree with the policy.

You can choose to make dumb choices. Can’t choose to be black.

I am trying to come up with a justification for this, but... about the only thing I can think of is to have a place where people could experience segregation in the modern day. Kind of a reenactment museum of sorts. But even that seams to me would be better accomplished with “segregation Tuesdays” or something like that instead of doing it all the time.

Sure, and I sympathize with that argument. I think in most parts of the country, people oppose racism and therefore openly supporting segregation would lose a restaurant plenty of customers. In these areas, market efficiency would work to reduce racism. However, even Milton Friedman acknowledged that there are some parts of the country where it is to one’s economic advantage to be racist. In these parts of the country, this restaurant would do better than its non-racist counterparts; the result being the propagation of segregationist businesses.

There’s nowhere in the United States racist enough to make this policy profitable.

I’m from Arkansas. Even around Harrison Arkansas (KKK headquarters) they would still go out of business.
