Instead of blaming immigrants for their own misfortunes shouldn’t the US fundamentally change its own laws?
Scapegoating is easier.
We do need to change our laws.
It shouldn’t be as hard to immigrate as it is. My people know above all others that nearly everyone here descends from immigrants. It shouldn’t be so difficult.
It’s the United States . Can’t we look after our own for a change ?
Any time anyone tries to look after our own you go into conniptions and call them the next Stalin.
I do , appreciate the advice

Most of those countries were made horrible BY the US. Only two countries in central and south America haven't had illegal CIA operations to topple democratically elected leaders.
Heres an exhaustive list.
Obviously, the countries with unfavorable conditions that lead to their own people desiring to escape, are the ones who need to make changes to improve their societies. If we have problems, we don't look to England or Finland or the Philippines or whoever else to solve them - it's up to us to do that. The same goes for other countries. We are not the solution to their problems.
Are you talking about legal immigrants? I don't think illegal immigration should be tolerated and I do think reform of the immigration laws is needed. I do not think either speaks to the US assigning blame for circumstances of others who are not citizens of this country. I don't blame them but they are not all our responsibility to care for.
We should enforce the laws not change them.
The United States is not, and cannot be, responsible for every person in the world. I like the analogy of putting your own oxygen mask on first on an airplane. If you don’t take care of yourself, you cannot help anyone else. The people in Mexico, Latin America, and South America, as well as many other areas of the world, need to figure out some things and fix their own countries. The USA and Americans do far more than our fair share to help the rest of the world.
What does this have to do with the poll question?
