I think streamlining legal immigration in a way that it is more accessible to the common person would help. (This would not require less vetting or standards. It would just require less cash to get here)
But it is far more important that we enforce the law, protect our border, and let these countries fix their own problems.

Obviously, but that is one of the stupidest statements I’ve ever heard. It’s such a democratic approach. That’s like saying there’s too many DWIs so let’s raise the bac level. It doesn’t solve the real problem.

I agreed. Not on the wording, but on the spirit of what I think is being said. Yes. Legal immigration needs to be reformed to be quicker and more efficient. I don’t know if I would word that as “removing barriers”. That seems to mean opening up the borders to anyone, but I do not think that was what was meant. There HAS to be barriers.

I guess but the barriers are there for a reason. We should make sure we know who’s coming in. We should be generous for sure but we gotta make sure everyone’s alright

This would undoubtedly be the best way to reduce (even eliminate) illegal immigration. Illegal immigration however is not itself the entire problem. The huge influx of unskilled laborers and introduction of groups of people who don’t associate with the current residents is. This would just be changing the problem. Legalizing all crimes would be the best way to reduce the amount of criminals. Releasing all prisoners is the best way to reduce the prison population.

That’s possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
If you have a water leak in your house the first thing you do is stop the flow to fix it. You don’t cut the water line in half and call it good.

We need the wall to discourage every poor and cartel member from the entire South American continent from flooding this republic. Under a year till they vote to open the borders.

Yes, technically, making illegal immigration not illegal anymore would get rid of illegal immigration, but we really don’t need anymore immigrants atm. We let in plenty enough that legally come already. Democrats just want the new support.

Yes because then we can at least know who’s coming in. I’d rather have laxed immigration laws and know who’s coming in then having millions of unknown people here.

It's hard to legally immigrate to the US. I know a lot of legal immigrants from South Africa.
Two were sponsored by companies-- Apple and Cisco. One won the diversity lottery. Another couple from Zimbabwe were sponsored by family It takes months to do all that is required and gather all documents. Especially if you are coming from a third world country like Zimbabwe.

I think the process needs to be faster, not necessarily easier. We still need to vet everyone coming in.
