Desktop for projects with dual monitors or more monitors. Laptop for single functions eg banking email etc.
I still love my desktop for serious projects. For everything else, I use my iPad.
Prefer laptops. Perfect for what I’m doing, and can be transported all around the house and to work.
Costs me around 2k to build my own.
I built mine for about 600, and it's fully capable of gaming
laptops are convenient, but desktops are far more powerful. if you're doing anything more than web surfing and watching YouTube videos, you really should invest in a good desktop, preferably one you build yourself, if you have the brains
Laptop is all I need anymore. Most of the time I’m on a tablet or phone.
I use both.
Like my 25” screen best.
Desktop. I can cram 128GB of RAM and 24TB of storage in there along with two GTX 1080s in SLI.... when a laptop can come remotely close to that, let me know....
I only have my iPhone, and my iMac Pro. Love ‘em both, and as much as I’d like to make the case for a laptop, I can’t! "Desktop" it is!
Desktop just because I think it’s way more comfortable.
Desktop PCs are superior and always will be.
It’s been over 10 years since I’ll had a desktop.
I only own a laptop at the moment, but I am looking to purchase a desktop in the near future for casual gaming (World of Tanks, Flight Simulator 10, et cetera)
I suggest CyberPower...more bang for your buck. I ordered mine through Costco.com a year ago, and it's been rock solid. They're made for gaming, and are several hundred dollars cheaper than comparably-equipped Alienwares or Omens.
Build your own, learned a ton when I did
Yeah, build your own and you’ll get a more powerful computer for the price than any prebuilt.
I've done that a few times. Never again...too much hassle. I'll pay the extra money to make sure everything works and is warrantied. Not a hardware guy.
Pay me and I’ll build you one :P
What kind of warranty do you offer? :p
I have a lap top but rarely use it these days. There’s not much you can’t do a any smart phone with a good wi-Fi hook up.
I love my work laptop. I usually have to bring it to meetings and can bring it home if I need to (yay😔). I hook it up to one monitor at home and two at work so the smaller screen isn’t a problem.
Desktop. I learned my lesson. Even a so-called gaming laptop can't hold a candle to a decent gaming Desktop.
A laptop that has a Core i5 with a 1070 gtx will cost around 1100$.
For a desktop it'll cost around 500-600
A decent desktop computer is around $2000
$1,700 if you buy a CyberPower ;)
Build your own, much cheaper
You can build a decent desktop for $600. $2000 is a top notch build.
No, top notch now is like 30k 😂 the hardware market for PCs has inflation going on. A 1080 gtx cost like 850$
Costs around 2k to build my own.
I spent around 1,300$ I'm gonna get a new case because the one I have looks like it's from 2009.
Where are you buying parts? I spent $600 a couple months ago to build a computer that can run new games on high, with little to no FPS drops..
Amazon, Newegg, tiger
Same here, I used new egg for my motherboard and Amazon for everything else
What one should I upgrade to?

Different tools for different jobs. For about 95% of what I use a computer for, a desktop. For the times when I have to be mobile, and accept that the performance and utility just won’t be very good, one of my laptops.
Depends on what I’m using it for
Laptop... with a SSD. Boots in 40 seconds flat.
My home built desktop with SSD boot and HDD storage boots in less than 30
My desktop with SSD boots in 11.7 seconds. Granted, it’s Windows 7, not 10, but it handles my custom applications way better...
Unless you like working from a desk where you can lay out all your papers and view your work on a large screen. I love my desktop and my 27” screen.
Oops. This was meant to be a response to Cud.
Desktop⌨️🖥old school fixed site,💻laptop, new tech, lighter, more moble & user friendly.
No reason to own a desktop these days.
When you're looking for virtually unlimited performance, desktops take it
Whichever one can get the emails and online and stuff
That's called a phone
