Democrat deal to avoid another partial Government shutdown. $1.375 billion for 55 miles of β€œphysical barriers”, not a wall. Good compromise?

They want Trump, to shut the government down, to veto it.
Pelosi and Chuckie would be on every camera saying “ see how wonderful Democrats are, we compromised” and Trump shut it government down , again!

1.3 billion dollars for this fiscal session. I would accept under the condition that the dems shouldn’t be surprised if more funds are requested at the next fiscal session. We need to take baby steps. Even if 5 billion isn’t a lot

Well we know Nancy Pelosi doesn’t want filthy illegals on her property after she kicked them out.

Facts matter. A Trump wall supporter climbed over the wall on her property. She was detained for trespassing. She is not a “filthy illegal” but rather a white US citizen.
The irony is that she wants the wall and protests by climbing over a wall, thereby proving that walls don’t work. You gotta πŸ˜‚.

Facts do matter. There were illegals there who setup a tent and declared sanctuary. Nancy Pelosi kicked those filthy illegals out anyway.

I wasn’t fooled by Nancy Pelosi. She obviously doesn’t want filthy illegals hanging around her place after they set up a sanctuary. Doesn’t surprise me one bit. I can see her declaring that the peasants can all eat cake from her balcony.

“An August 2015 campaign position paper said "Mexico must pay for the wall and, until they do," the U.S. would "impound all remittance payments derived from illegal wages," increase fees on visas and ports of entry into the U.S., and possibly implement tariffs or cut aid”

kscott516 Masks fail

Zimmy, because the proper and functional way is for Congress to pass the funds specifically for the wall. These negotiations and shutdown were about showing the American people how the Democrats don’t care about our National securely and choose illegals over Americans. He has been and will continue building the wall with the Defense budget. Remember how he increased that?

MrMD, Trump has said it himself.

WorstGooEver Nuke the Hurricanes

zimmy Florida
02/12/19 11:03 am

Kscott- seems to me if the wall is being built with “other” money already, it would piss the American people off with a shutdown to shelve out even more money, your analysis makes absolutely no sense!

MrMilkdud
02/12/19 11:21 am

If it’s not being reported on, and trump is keeping it secret from the media, then how did you hear about it?

kscott516 Masks fail
02/12/19 11:22 am

The American people would rather see Congress do their jobs and pass funding the proper way so they can build the wall. Everyone would rather see new jobs and not have the military waste their time building it. But national security is of utmost importance. Trump won on all fronts with the shutdown. Made the Dems look bad and still gets the wall.

zimmy Florida
02/12/19 11:26 am

Kscott- you are delusional, most of us Americans don’t want that silly wall, or don’t care, again if there is already money there and the wall is being built there is no reason congress should allocate more money for it, in fact the Democrats will use that to their benefit, and that shutdown was probably one of the biggest debacles in modern Presidential history.

kscott516 Masks fail
02/12/19 11:32 am

Most Americans don’t have the full picture as to why the wall is so critically important. Nevertheless, most still want the wall and support is growing.

The shutdown made the Dems look bad since they wouldn’t negotiate. Trump came out ahead so not sure why you think it’s was some great misstep by Trump?? πŸ€”

From your articles:
“Just over 30 miles (48 kilometres) of border wall has been built since Mr Trump became president. All told, 685 miles (1,046 kilometres) of the 1,954-mile (3,126 kilometre) border has fencing or walls.”

Is that what you’re talking about? 30 miles?

MrMilkdud
02/12/19 11:53 am

What do you imagine happening, exactly?
Do you think trump is going to do some big reveal where the border wall is completed seemingly overnight and he surprises everyone by unveiling it?

kscott516 Masks fail
02/12/19 11:57 am

30 miles is a lot, especially since you’re claiming he hasn’t built any. Now you know the truth. You’re welcome.

No, we need much more than just the 30 miles. I think it was estimated around another 700 miles. I don’t know if you have a short memory or what but I’ve said numerous times he’ll have the Army Corps of Engineers build it. That’s what I think. He didn’t run it by me, for the record.

kscott516 Masks fail

MrMilkdud

thehill.com/homenews/administration/429534-trump-on-spending-deal-were-building-the-wall-anyway

"If we didn't do that shutdown we would not have been able to show this country, these politicians, the world, what the hell is happening with the border," he said. "That was a very important thing we did."

“President Trump on Monday said he would build his long-desired wall along the southern border regardless of whether Congress approves funding for it.

"Just so you know, we're building the wall anyway," Trump said at a campaign rally in El Paso, Texas, which sits directly across the Rio Grande from Mexico.”

The honor of setting the precedent goes to Jimmy Carter in 1979. It’s been used 57 since then.

The border wall does not constitute a national emergency. The vast majority of illegal immigrants in the United States are here because they overstayed their visas. Illegal immigrants are not pouring over the border because there is no fence or wall. This is all drummed up to create division in the country, and it is having the desired effect.

You were already wrong about President Trump setting the precedent, so I don’t think you’ve done enough research to speak intelligently on this subject.

raidadave Washington
02/12/19 10:25 am

I dont see it that way. He would be setting a presidence for declaring a national emergency for something that doesn't even come close to being one. Why so you think that so many Republicans are advising against it? They do not want the next Democratic president declaring a national emergency for something like climate change. If trump declares a national emergency for this and gets away with it, what would stop that in the future?
