Which is a better Powerball lottery strategy? Strategy A: Write random numbers or choose quick pick each time you buy a Powerball lottery ticket. Strategy B: Pick your own numbers and stick with them every time you buy a Powerball lottery ticket.

Picking your own numbers is statistically the same as random numbers. Playing the same numbers multiple times does increase your odds, but by so little as to be statistically irrelevant.

There is no difference. The probability is astronomical. You’re most likely to get struck by lighting and killed by a meteorite.

I used to sell the Powerball and the biggest winners do a quick pick.

It makes no difference. Most of the winners are quick picks though, but that might be because they are the ones who buy more tickets. You can only use 1,2,3,4,5 PB 1. a single time. You can quick pick as much as you want.

Picking your own numbers is worse. It’s more re likely that someone will pick the same numbers.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, you are going to lose anyways.

The best strategy of all is to not waste your money on gambling. Yeah maybe it’s only a dollar here, a dollar here, but I know that somehow, people can’t pay for their 0.5-$1 condom... sooo for those who rely on organizations, government, and taxpayers to pay for your condom, you should save that 1 dollar on powerball since you aren’t gonna win anyway, and instead, pay for your own condom.

A few random thoughts on chance games like lottery, assuming it's not rigged:

- The odds are against you, if you had infinite time, the house/bank wins since they need to make a profit

- it still doesn't hurt to play if the amount you spend is so small you don't feel it

- random means random: just because a number hasn't come up for a while doesn't mean it's somehow "due"; likewise, if a number was drawn two or three times in a row, it doesn't mean it's either "exhausted" or somehow preferred

- as I said below, avoid patterns that many people use so you don't have to share if you win.

I wish all players good luck - which isn't changing your luck at all 😂

There’s a good strategy that applies to roulette and other gambling, but you would probably have to readjust it. Let’s say I gamble 1 dollar. I lose it, no worries. I gamble 2 dollars. I lose, no worries I gamble 4 dollars. I lose. I gamble 8 dollars. I lose. I gamble 16 dollars. If I win here, 1+2+4+8=15, so I still win my original 1 dollar. I could theoretically infinitely lose as long as I win once at the end, i get 1 more dollar than what I started wit.

As long as you have the discipline to stop playing on the first win.

Tsar, I’ve won & lost big with that progressive strategy on roulette. If you bet on 1/3 paying 3 to 1 it can be lucrative. On average your third hits every third time.

However, I’ve seen it miss 11 times in a row. Starting with $10 I never make it that far. $10, $20, $40, $80, $160, $320, $640, $1,280___ after 8 missed you have lost $2,550 and need to cough up another $2,560 for the next bet.

It’s fun when it works for you but it can ruin your day.

It doesn’t matter unless you happen to be psychic.

The problem with picking your own numbers is when those numbers hit on the day you forget to play.

Whichever option takes less time.

There is no difference, the numbers are chosen at random.

People believe the second is more effective because of the gambler's fallacy, but the odds don't change based on the numbers picked.

True, but one thing is probably a good idea when playing lottery: avoid low numbers that can represent birth months and days as well as any patterns because quite a few people do this, and if you win you'd have to share.

I'd agree with that.
