Hollywood has recently been putting more effort into the creation of strong female characters, specifically as action heroes. Share your favorite female action heroine in the comments.
I'm sticking with the kill Bill, below for movies but if it was a TV show, the character would be Nikita. That was a wonderful show and she was an amazing actress.
Geena Davis from Ling Kiss Goodnight....also not a recent movie...
Xena the warrior princess and Lara Croft.
The girl in the new Star Wars movies playing Rey and the girl in Bumblebee.
Barb Wire and Wonder Woman past and current are my favs!
From the 1950s Annie Oakley. A real person with real skills. She got the bad guys. She held down a job. Did not lean or depend on a man. On Amazon
As a little girl, I wanted to be just like Wonder Woman. She’s still cool in my opinion.
The best “strong female characters” are well-written characters who HAPPEN to be female. The problem is Hollywood tries to reverse engineer them and start with a “strong female character” framework and then try to make the character interesting, and I don’t think Hollywood understands how pathetic and transparent of an exercise this is
The bride is a good example of a good one. Ripely from alien. Sarah Connor from terminator off the top of my head
I agree with that assessment, I've found most of the best characters come from years ago, when they weren't trying so hard.
Uma Thurman in Kill Bill is by FAR the greatest female action hero.
I agree. She is so good in that movie.
