Are all serial killers clinically insane?
No, they are cruel and sadistic and likely feel almost no emotion but I don't believe they're crazy. They know what they're doing, they plan it, they execute it, and they get away with it for years. Generally, a crazy person cannot think that clearly. However, a psychotic person certainly can.
I think they are either mentally ill or evil.
I'd imagine most probably aren't "insane", necessarily.
It's hard to get away with things when you're insane, and you have to get away with it at least once for it to be serial.
Was General Patton a serial killer?
War doesn't count as murder.
Deadly with a personality disorder
No. Some are simply evil.
No, to be evil, you must be sane first. Otherwise you are just crazy.
Not all of them. Some are just cold and sadistic.
Cereal killers of what species?
This kind of gets at what the purpose is or should be when we are trying to quantify with clinical diagnoses. I’m somewhat uncertain on both accounts, although if I was forced to speculate, it would probably be a “no, not necessarily” based on typical standards.
I'd say they'd have to be. Killing people specifically to match a theme is pretty much textbook psychosis.
Not sure a theme is required
That's what defines a serial killer. Otherwise, they're just plain killers.
No, not all.
I think so.
No sane person would just go out and kill people, often for sexual gratification.
That doesn't mean they're *legally* insane - insanity pleas rarely work.
