Yes, trade secrets, development, and processes.

Not secrets like cover-ups, accounting misrepresentations, or deliberate manipulation of laws.

Depends on the secret. Most companies have proprietary information they need to keep secret to remain competitive. However, if a company is publicly traded, certain financial information must be made public per the SEC.

There would be no benefit to telling your competitors your secrets. Plus, the government makes companies keep some things secret like if you’re submitting an IPO, etc. My company is transparent with its employees and that’s big, but otherwise I’m fine with the status quo.
