Is it ok or offensive to wish black people a "happy black history month"

It seems weird to me. Maybe just let at least one black person know you appreciate and respect them. Or maybe go enjoy something good that black people brought to America.
For example: Barbecue, blues, jazz, rap?, red beans and rice. Here’s a list from Huffington Post that I didn’t know. Ice cream scoop, traffic light, super soaker water gun, potato chip, open heart surgery, the light bulb, the Dougie www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/28/black-inventions_n_4877195.html

Why would you do that? It’s just awkward.

Why do Black People get a month? Morgan Freeman said it was crazy and he’s a black man. So, no I am not that name.

Only insomuch as it is to acknowledge different history months for different races.

It’s neither, but closer to offensive. It’s ignorant. Black history month is meant to be observed by everyone.

I've never heard anyone wishing a black person such a thing. Wouldn't know if it's offensive since I'm not black but it does sound like a way to get popped in the mouth for.

I don't know if offensive is the right word. But, it sounds odd and off putting too say that.

Unsure, but if I were black I’d be offended by black history month over all. I’m an American, all history belongs to all Americans. I don’t want a special, separate but equal, month. Don’t treat me special or differently, just as an American.

My old company would sponsor lectures on BHM during lunch hour. They encourage employees to attend. Some did some did not.
