violent crime remains near its lowest point in decades, and demonstrated that fears of a new violent crime wave are unfounded. Politicians that use the fear of increasing violent crime are just playing the public.
Come to Baltimore. They’ll kill your statistics and you.
100% agree. A frightened populace is a controlled populace. The stats don’t lie.
It’s what HE does best, makes up shjt and plays on people’s fears.
It’s hard to convince people that change is needed without a crisis first. Some are legit & some are made up to fit an agenda. Think: healthcare prices, drug war, border crisis, terrorism
If violent crime occurs to you or a family member, you know what you can do with stats!
Politicians can lie to you because of personal anecdotes. Got it.
Not all stats are verified. If you take from source and do not cross reference with other stats, i don’t agree. Got it!
An anecdote is not a stat. Which stats say crime is going up!
The poll is clearly talking about the national crime rate.
FBI stats say otherwise.
Yes, I think we ALL need to see that link.
Yeah, I’m interested in that link too
Here is just one of the many pages on FBI stats that show otherwise. Rather than JSU ask for the link take some time to look it up your self
Your graph is misleading. 1 the intervals are small. 2 the time frame is also limited. Try this for a more comprehensive overview www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2017/dec/04/jeff-sessions/violent-crime-some-still-well-historical-highs/
As with most things these day there is data somewhere that will support both sides of the discussion. I agree with you regarding the use of fear but in the case of violent crime I am not sure what to think as the data discussed in the report compared to the conclusions given in the report are confusing. Regardless of any data, violent crime will always create fear.
Absolutely. Nothing sells like fear. And sex.
Did someone say sex?!? 😉
